hey... got a problem!! Testing voltage on my pamco cause my sparks seems to be really weak IMO and can't get my carbs jetted right. I read a steady 12.5v on the red wire ignition on and at idle, but a juggling 6.5 to 8.5v on the green at idle and when only on battery juice, I read 0.915 - 1.0v.

Coil is good with a 4.5ohms primary and 25k on secondary with 5k caps. But I just read on an other thread to not run resistor plugs on 5k caps, can this be my problem?

Take voltage on the green wire path on the pamco and it's seem to drop drastically in the little capacitor, going from 12.5v to 16mV. Some pins on the ''chip'' and the magnet sensor got 12.5v, one at 7.5v, an other 20mV .... but I'm a farmer not an electrician and don't really know a shit in electronic.

I just what to know if I time to upgrade my old pamco?

Thanks!

Sn34ky,

The green wire goes from open (12 Volts) to ground (.1 Volts) in response to the rotating magnet to turn the coil on and off, just like a set of points. So, if you are getting spark, the PAMCO is doing it's job, but if you keep screwing with it, you may need a new one.

Thanks Pete! So if i'm not getting 12v on the green wire with ignition on, I'm :hump:

This morning, I test voltage with the bike cold and I had 12.5v going to each wire, run the engine, stop it and can't get it anymore...

Anyway, sounds time to upgrade.

Edit: testing with the locator pin off and I now understand what you said Pete. Got 12.5v to .1v . So my pamco's still rocking. Could I have worn plug caps that weakening my spark?
