What tanks look good on the XS?

I had an XS750 tank on my cafe bike. Easy to mount and fit the look I wanted

Eff the aesthetics, what looks good is a tank that holds enough gas you don't have to push the bike to the next gas station.

The XS750 is your tank. Hold about 2 gallons more than stock. Of course, it depends how far apart the gas stops are but that's about a 100 miles more gas.

Hi jb,
on a parallel note, a thing to be aware of is that Yamaha petcock internal filter/reserve level towers can fall out and lay in the bottom of the gas tank.
This is a zero symptom failure and not noticeable until you switch to reserve and find it's already been used.
Which is why you should zero your trip odometer each fill-up and look for a gas pump when the trip reads the appropriate number, rather than wait until you run onto a reserve that may not be there.
Unlikely, you say? I'd have said so too until it happened to me.
The Jerrycan of extra gas in the sidecar saved my sorry arse.
Even a quart can of gas in a saddlebag could save yours.

Some of the sites catering to the dual-purpose off road crowd sell jerry cans in 1, 2, and 4 liter sizes.

There are tanks for the /2 and later Airhead BMWs for 6 gallons (stock) and 8, 10 and 12 gallons for accessory tanks. Those are some mighty big tanks!

I always use the odometer method. I really want to get an XS750 tank. One ride I do frequently is to my brother's house in Seattle from my place in Port Ludlow on the Olympic Peninsula. I can ride all the way there and have to gas up half way back home. There are gas stations convenient when I need them (I-5 through Seattle/Tacoma) but it would be nice to do the round trip without needing to fill up. The XS750 would give me enough to do that.
