new guy looking to go from stock to the cafe look

Hi 'driver,
early frames are kinda flexible is all so you don't want to be too enthusiastic flinging the bike into curves.
Later frames were gusseted, braced and reinforced up the ying-yang to stiffen them
which made the later frames seriously heavier, swapping flexy for stodgy.

Ahh ok. Makes sense, thank you very much! I don't plan on diving into corners much. I mainly plan on driving to the local bike might/car shows.

All the info is very much appreciated. A huge thank you to everyone.

Hey MeatWagon-Driver! Welcome to XS650.net!

Don't listen to these knuckleheads. Hack that thing up...

On second thought - these guys are right. Its not an old Norton or something, but they are getting more-rare as we talk here right this minute. However, the cool-factor does also apply here. If you can do a sweet custom cafe conversion (not my thing, but if its yours, then cool), then you'll have a sweet ride that is not far from the original bike.

Bikers have always been a rebellious lot, even inside their own ranks.

Personally, I would go full-resto on that.

Brought her home today, super excited to start the process of bringing her back to life!!!

Whoa! XS-2! It has most value as a stocker. It's one of the most desirable 650's.

Then again.

Marty, yea that what everyone keeps telling me, it's very valuble and pretty rare as a sticker especially when it only has 12k miles and I can face it's while history( so 's I am now the second owner).

The
At bike you pictured is what I am working towards. I want it to look close to that.

I came across this pic on the xs650chopper website. A nice example of what can be done with the earlier XS's. Sure got my attention.
