The new 2016 water cooled Triumph Bonneville pics are out. This is the Street 900cc smaller version complete with ABS and other goodies. I may have found a new object of affection. Check out the others, all 1200 cc variations.

Moderator, I put this in the wrong area please move to where you see fit.

Fehhh! (Reverse snob appeal) Looks kinda like a Xs650! (Sarcasm) Yes, Mr. Moderator, please move it to where you see fit! (My apologies to Newagerocker) Go back to the original object of your affection. (It's in the little picture below your name!)

It does look quite a bit like my '77D, them younger ones can still turn my head; that's how you can tell this old man isn't dead yet.

Love it. Does it have 270 crank?

Yes 270 crank, like a rephased XS650 right from the factory

They are going to sell a ton of these. I probably wouldn't buy one myself but they are good looking alternative to all of the space aged looking bikes that dominate the market. Nice classic vibes with modern technology, win win in my eyes

While I'm not getting one any time soon, I like the Triumph vertical twin line because they look like motorcycles. Also, like the XS was when available new, it's a motorcycle that people can buy and ride around a little bit. Maybe 15-20 years on, it will be possible to buy Triumphs from the garages of people who thought they wanted to ride, put 10K on in three or four years and pushed it into the corner of the garage. (That's where my XS came from!)

Looks like a rip off of a classic to me.

Hi boxcar,
well, at least Triumph are ripping off their own classic.
Or did you mean the XS650?
Although one of the reasons I bought my Heritage Special is because I reckoned it looked like a G9 Matchless.
But WTF, any vertical twin looks much like another, eh?
As I see it, the latest Bonneville is a lookalike for a 1960s Bonneville which was a development of the 1937 Speed Twin.
Which was the original rip-off.
The Speed Twin engine's styling is a rip-off of a 4-valve Rudge, sharing that big single's dual exhaust pipes and external appearance in the hope of stealing the bike's market share.
Like it says in the Old Testament somewhere And there is no new thing under the sun

Not a fan of the new 'Triumphs'.. Big lardy lumps..
Def not a fan of water-cooled bikes or cast wheels...

Wow, a challenge.
If your gonna compare vintage iron at least throw up a few pics to buttress your argument.

Really. I'm sorry , I don't see it. Maybe it's just me.

1960 Bonny vs the new bonny is a bit closer.

I don't see a tone of similarity between these two engines but the bikes as a whole are sure close.

I still think the new Bonny most closely resembles the 78 Yamaha 650

I'll let the members be the judge.

A Triumph would be the only new bike I would consider buying. It would suit my purposes just fine.

But, because most of my earlier bikes were Kawasakis, I would seriously consider the W800. If it was available in North America.

I love my 2014 scrambler. And yes. I do use it off road. A lot. Great modern takes on old classics.

To be totally honest. I do t find the air cooled bikes under powered at all. The gearing is to tall from the factory which doesn't help. One down in the front or two up in back makes a huge difference without killing any highway effort. Great take on an old standard.

Thought I'd chime in again. You can shave quite a bit of excess of these bikes too. Factory chain guard (real steel!) and passenger pegs gone. Did some speed holes in the front sprocket cover. The arrow pipe makes a nice difference too.
