Starting w/ pamco h/o ignition +e-advancer /pma

Negative, I replaced that as well. Just didn't install the parts on the right side of the motor. If your sitting on the bike.

OK. But take a close look at the advancer cap on the right side to be sure both locating pins are properly positioned in the two slots. Also, the right side of the bike is where the right turn signal is located...

New pamco, new coil, new vm34. Still will not start. Fml

We need more information other than "will not start".

1. Kick start or battery?
2. Spark or no spark?
3. Fuel in the bowls?
4. If kick only with a capacitor, did you try the earlier suggestion of wiring the coil and PAMCO to a battery?
5. Can you reinstall the starter if it was removed?
6. Check all three locating pins on the advance rod and cam?
7. Did it ever run with the PAMCO?
8. If yes to #7, what did you do to it since then?
9. Did you review the PAMCO installation instructions?
10. Single carb setup?

I know that a lot of these questions can be answered if I go back and re read the entire thread (26 posts), but we are here to help, so it wouldn't hurt if you give us a quick recap every now and then.

Installed the new pamco as per instructions with new coil. Installed new minukni carbs with new lines filter and new gas. Tried starting with the battery only connected to the coil everything else to the pma unplugs, with the green wire to the pamco left in coil. Ran positive batt wire to red wire on pamco and coil. Grounded to engine mount bolt. Sounded like it wanted to start but died. Checked pins (3) on cam, they are indexed and in place.

Sprayed some carb cleaner in it, wanted to run but died. Thinking I need to adjust the carbs?

Well, we need 5twins to come in here. There may be some special procedure for new carbs, but in the meantime, I would certainly make sure you are getting fuel in the bowls. This can be done in a couple of ways.

1. You can connect a clear gas line to the drain spigot and hols it to the side of the carb to see if the level is at the top of the bowl.
2. You can very carefully remove the bowl without spilling the contents and check the level.
3. With the drain screw open, turn on the fuel and see if it flows freely out the drain.
4. Wait for 5twins for some better / more suggestions.

It's trying to start but requiring a lot of kicking. The timing is set to middle per the instructions. Definitely think it's a carb tuning issue

If it won't start you might try pulling the carbs and checking the float level, if it thats correct up your pilot jet, leave the mains alone for now.

Here she is by the way

Kimura97,

One more try before I go to bed. Do you have vacuum barbs on your carb manifolds? If so, are they plugged or connected to the petcocks? If left open, they will allow excessive air into the cylinders making the mixture too lean to fire, even with the choke on. Speaking of the choke / enricher, are you using it with these start attempts?

(I'm exhausted.... )

If you're for sure getting spark, I think you're right. The carbs need looked over. Did they ask for specific year, pipes, climate when you ordered? I'm guessing not, so like I said I'd look at float level and pilot jets sizes and start experimenting.

Good news I got it running, rough but running. It will only run with it almost all the way advanced. Still need to try and get a good baseline tune before I think about re jetting the carbs. Any reason why I would need it almost all the way advanced for it to run? Don't mind the mess with the wires not cleaned up.. As well as the filters they gave me a way way to big. I don't have much clearance thinking of running some volocity stacks. Any suggestions?

Quick vid of it running, I was messing with the adjustments to get a good idle for the camera.
