Progress Report - $400 Combo TIG/Plasma Machine

If it's just a link to a PDF, why not just attach it to your post here?

I just quickly scanned the article but it looks good. I'll take a more in-depth look at it later.

Ya me to. How about just tellig us about it instead of a PDF. I usually only use my Iphone and cant read PDF's work a crap on it.

swbill, it is a 10 page document with several tips, mods and photos. That would be a huge post here and sure hard to read on a phone. Maybe you could visit the library and use one of their PCs?

My conclusion is that the machine seems to be of good quality but does require some work to gather the chunks and bits you will need to hook everything up. For example, you'll need to buy a plug for the power cord (either 110V or 220v) and an air drier and some 1/4" pipe fittings and some electrodes and welding rods. No big deal and not a lot of money either, but they don't tell you that. Also, mine had essentially zero documentation, so posts like mine may be one of your best how-to resources.

BTW, Miller (www.millerwelds.com) is a good site with calculators for TIG settings, TIG and plasma how-to's, videos and instructional articles.

And, fyi, some of the higher priced Miller machines look hauntingly similar to these other $400 units. I know that part of the higher price is because with someone like Miller or Lincoln you get DOCUMENTATION and SUPPORT!
