Project... "Track Star"

Question, what did you replace the gauges with? I am wanting to go digital on my build and just curious to what people are having success with.

I'm using the Trailtech Vapor, haven't wired it up yet so can't really comment on performance at all.

That looks really nice, what handlebars and risers are you using ?

Thanks, they're ProTaper Evo bars and ProTaper fat bar risers.

What do you have on there for a gauge? Sorry if I missed it, but I didn't see it mentioned...

See above ^^

It's looking nice, really sleek. But, sorry mate, them winkers have to go. Maybe some smoked onces would suit better. Or is it a law where you are?

Thanks, unfortunately the signals are required for local laws. I was against them on my last build, so I left them off. But with this style of bike I don't mind the look of these ones too much.

That was my guess on the gauge. I have one in my shopping cart and just never pulled the trigger. Then again the build wasn't to a point where it was needed yet. Thanks for the info. Can't wait to see more pictures!

Motor and exhaust loose install. Need a few missing bolts and then it can all get tightened up. Love the way the muffler exits from under the frame.

Looking good, hope you don't mind that I steal some of your ideas and paint scheme for my 77 build. Keep the posts and pics coming….

Couple more updates. Got most of the controls mounted back on the bars, just waiting on throttle cable to finish it up. Finished up the underside seat/electronics pan with integrated ignition cylinder, turned out awesome. Also, started on building more moto style pegs, which I used on my last build. Planning on adding some color to them and using them for both passenger and driver pegs.

zeroxs: He said earlier he has the TrailTech Vapor.

I just picked up the Koso DB-01R.. got everything working on it but the tach for some reason, plugged it into the negative on the ignition coil (the terminal without the R/W striped wire) and I'm not getting any readings.

fox23: Did you have any issues with your trailtech? I'm assuming it connects similarly to the Koso - negative from the ignition coil for the tach signal. Didn't want to clutter up your thread but this info may be useful for some. Very nice build BTW. Want that exhaust badly, and I think seeing these pics persuaded me to chop off those nasty center stand brackets once and for all.

What's the story with the exhaust? Did you make it or purchase it somewhere?

I built it, all stainless 304 and a reverse cone muffler from Dime City.

I still haven't got to wiring up the gauge yet, so I won't be much help at this time.

Hoping I can get some experts to chime in on my wiring diagram... looking to integrate the factory ('83) ignition and charging system into a simplified harness. I'm mostly just seeking confirmation on what to do with the few extra wires that get capped off the stator and the ignition. Don't get too hung up on which circuits are combined and fused together, as I will rework that when I decide how many fuses I'm going to be running. Thanks in advance.

Anyone have comments on the charging or ignition wiring? From what Ive read it sounds like I needed to give switched power to the Browns off alternator and regulator, cap the yellow off the alternator, and cap the b/w off the ignitor unit. If someone could confirm that would be awesome.

Well, finally got the fender back to match the tank, painter did quite an amazing job replicating the patina. Couple preview pics...
