UK Board Tracker Build Thread

nah its got to have some zing .
Blue purple metalflake would certainly give it that...

...I do like the blue purple flake idea...

A few years ago, I saw a custom Vette in town. Bluish Purple. But, as I walked around it, the color would slowly change to some sort of Purplish Red, then back to Bluish Purple.

What the heck is that???

I'm for candy red frame, tank, wheels and everything else that needs color. Not enough red Yamahas because of the Honda thing. ................and the brain says that red is speed.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! 2m I think I know the paint you are talking about. TVR used it on their Chimera, it was called flip, or chameleon paint.

What's your thoughts guys on frame and tin colours - the same or contrasting ?

With the tank lines and the bare frame, I think you should keep them one solid color, allowing for pin striping, accessories to make up the contrast. With traditional board trackers, that seems to be the look... but pretty sure you can't go wrong either way.

For a bit of drama, I will say that I think your headlight may be a bit small with respect to the overall bike...but that's just me. :)

Love the build regardless!

One colour overall, with pinstriping and some detailing where needed but not too much!

I am liking the thought of a dark red with gold pinstriping and cream rims now though! A bit like that Indian on the previous page

Hi Paul,
that's one superb build and you paint her whatever colours you've a mind to.
However, I guess I'm showing my age and prejudices here but you did ask.
I'm with the guy who said:-
"There's only two colours to paint bikes:-
One is black with gold pinstripes.
The other is whatever colours fools choose."

I really cant see a better paint scheme than gold and black!!!!

My thought on color is:

If the bike needs a colorful paint scheme then do it.

In my opinion your bike is a work of art without paint.... to add color would just distract from the craftsmanship and dedication that went into the bike as a build itself. A simple non colorful paint job would draw observers to the uniqueness of the bike, and it would be seen for what it is rather than a colorful piece of metal.

THe bike is beautiful...dont make the paint the vocal point!!! Make your design the vocal point!

Looking ace Paul. What about a nice metal flake British racing green, that always looks cool with gold and and a tan saddle?

Thanks Guys - I really do like th idea of the cream rims especially with either a candy red or, Yoozy I do love BRG, and perhaps a cream panel on the tank with gold pinstriping

:)

My head is buzzing with paint ideas now so keep em coming.

To break away from paint I wanted to resolve my rear light issue. I have a lovely little machined LED rear light but it only has two wires. Obviously for the rear light I want stop and tail, so I mocked up the little circuit below to give me the third brake feed. Just pop in two 1 amp diodes and a 150ohm 0.5 watt resistor on the tail light feed.

Wow! That R8 and tanks look great. I'd go for it but I'll have to check my painter can do it. As always, there is so much more selection and people willing to do things on your side of the pond ;)

A little more done today. I had wondered what's with the old bolt holes on they top yoke. So, I opened them up to 14mm and popped the main beam and neutral indicator LEDs in there :)

I also finished off the number plate bracket and rear light. Way more complex than it needs be, i know. But it does look sleek

Hi Paul,
agreed, the plate & light looks sleek, but not complex.
Complex would be supported off the bike's frame so it didn't move with the suspension.
