I've tried and tried to get back in touch with Pamco Pete to send me a new Pamco ignition as stated below. No response.

I have sent my address numerous times through PM's but no response.

I'm beginning to think he is ignoring me. No, pretty sure he is.

Thanks!

Jason.

Which PAMCO do you have? Give me your address and I will send you a new one.

Pete

Seems like he goes away from here from time to time, but always come back. I can't say for sure but I think he might have health problems he has to deal with from time to time. If I'm way off basis I apologize.

Jtrip,

This is a little different than originally described. Unless you have a 277, the coil fires both sides at the same time so if you are getting spark on just one side, it is not the fault of the PAMCO.

Thank you for your concern, but I do not have any health issues! In fact I just recently passed my FAA medical test and I'm back flying again.

I have a 277 as stated in a previous PM. I have spent the money for a new one through Mikesxs and it fixed the problem. Thanks for the response.

I guess I'll be looking at other options if this one fails.

Awesome! Thanks!

Would you like me to send you the old one back?

I don't like bumping up old threads but I can't get in touch with pamco Pete. I've sent messages to two different email address's and PM'd through here with no reply. Does anyone have a phone number or something that I can contact him on?

The good news is that Pete is happy and healthy.

The bad news is, he had some problems on the supply side just as huge orders came in. Something out of his control. He's using new units to try and cover warranty claims and is simply swamped right now.
He said to tell everyone Thanks and that he's getting to stuff as quickly as possible.

On a side note....and this is me speaking personally.....how many electrical items come with ANY warranty at all? I think everything I've ever purchased says "no warranty, no returns on electrical items". Ever tried to get a Dyna replaced under warranty? After several weeks or even months? Hell, just try to get their customer service to respond.
I know for a FACT that Pete has replaced units at his expense that were destroyed 100% by the end users faultiness.
I'm grateful for his participation in our hobby.

Yeah I can understand him being a busy man and having supply issues but I was just wanting a couple questions answered and maybe an existing pamco repaired but I haven't heard back from any emails. Quite frustrating having my bike so close to completion but not being able to test ride it.

It's best to simply post your questions here or start a new thread rather than wait for me to answer. There are hundreds of members here with PAMCO's installed and they can usually provide an answer. If you have tried the troubleshooting tips posted on the web site and conclude that you need a warranty replacement, then PM me with your name and address.

Here is a troubleshooting guide that is also posted on the web site www.yamahaxs650.com

Testing the coil:

1. Using the lowest scale on the meter, measure the resistance between the primary terminals with the wires removed. Should read from 2.5 to 4.5 Ohms.
2. Using the highest scale on the meter, measure between one of the primary terminals and the center core of the coil. Should be infinite resistance. (open)
3. Measure between one of the primary terminals and one of the plug wire terminals. Should be infinite resistance. (open circuit)
4. Measure between one of the plug wire terminals and the core of the coil. Should be infinite resistance (open circuit)
5. Measure from one plug terminal to the other. Should be 15,000 to 20,000 Ohms

Testing the PAMCO

1. Use a voltmeter and check for battery voltage on each of the red/white wires with the key and kill switch are turned on.
2. The dual output coil has to have both spark plug wires connected to a spark plug at all times.
3. To test for spark, connect one of the spark plug wires to a spark plug that is grounded to the engine.

To test for spark without having to turn the engine over, do this procedure:
1. Remove the PAMCO rotor.
2. Remove the locating pin in the advance rod.
3. Reinstall the rotor, but without the pin.
4. Replace the nut holding the rotor on loosely. This will allow you to spin the rotor to produce a spark without having to turn the engine over.
5. Connect one of the spark plug wires to a spark plug that is grounded to the engine, but not installed in the engine.
6. Make sure that the other spark plug wire is connected to a spark plug in the engine.
7. Turn on the ignition switch and the kill switch.
8. Spin the rotor while looking at the gap in the spark plug for a spark.
9. Turn off the kill switch and the ignition switch.

Very frustrating. My bike sat for weeks waiting on a new one to be sent under warrantee. Was told in PM by Pete he would be sending me one. Had to buy one from Mikes XS which put more money in both their pockets.

Check with Hugh's Hand built for your ignition needs.

The way it's looking in gonna have to buy another from mikes as well. It's been 2 weeks since I sent him my name and address to ship me my replacement

You didn't have to buy form Mikes, you were simply to damn impatient to wait for response from Pete. He has a personal life outside this forum,so stop your whining and move on.

The repeated threads on here with issues with Pamco Pete's failure rate, and customer service have sealed the deal with me running a points ignition. At this point he might as well just include a disclaimer in all units that there's no explicitly stated or implied warranty with his products. It'll at least save everyone a bunch of heartache when it does fail.
