Here is whats going on gentleman, I just recently replaced my my coils, spark plug wires, and condenser. This bike was given to me after sitting for 30 years in my uncles garage. When i recieved the bike the wires to the coils and condenser were not plugged in correctly. And as i was trying to connect everything together i realized the woring diagram i found online does not match up with my bike.
So can someone tell me the correct order everything should be plugged in or send me a picture of a 73 wired correctly. Thanks!

Sorry, not sure about your wire routing. Did you change your plug caps? There are 6 different connections made inside and outside of those resistor caps counting the resistor itself. Many connections to tarnish, corrode and carbon up.

Yes i changed wires and caps. Even disconnected the kill switch and still couldnt get spark. The problem is the wiring diagrams i am using dont match the wires on my bike so im sorta left guessing

Most bikes of any given "year" are made the year before. So any bike built about July or after in 1973 will be a 1974.
Quick tells; 74 uses a starter push button, does not have a decompression lever, came in cinnamon brown, aluminum rims, and has a vin starting with 447000101 through 447012150
Getting this figured out is particularly important for your year, there are extensive changes everywhere from the 73 to 74 model year

I have the decompression cable so my bike is definitely a 1973. But my bike is wired as a 74 tx650a?...
Anyways. Heres todays update. Today
I wired everything correctly according to the 1974 diagram. My grandfather and i checkes the components to make sure everything had power and it all had the correct voltage running to them. But still no spark!!. We also changed the points out but ran out of daylight. We are going to set the gaps tomorrow and see what happens. If anyone has any other ideas where to look please feel free to chime in..

been through all your posts and threads and i can't find any info on your Vin no's for the engine or frame. You have been trying to buy, (maybe have bought),75 seat but a 74 and later standard seat will not be a bolt on to the earlier framed 70-73TX.

A lot of guys here know the XS650 and a lot of new guys swear their bike is a certain year/model and when the relevant info or pic is posted then the bike is often a different model/year than they thought.

You got a diagram off the net............................If you didn't get it from this site the chances are the diagram could be wrong.

There are a lot of variables around the manufacturing date and actual models, meaning the Aug to July date is an approximation not a given.

Just because the bike has a decompression system on the bike doesn't mean it is a pre 74 model, the rockers that have the tang to accommodate the decompression system were standard in the XS motors till around 76-77 or later, (Can't remember for sure without doing some research), so it it easily swapped over to a later model.

Not trying to be a dick but we need information and pics to determine if your bike is what you say it is.

I completely understand. here is a pic of the original pink slip. The vin is on there. ( S650201723) Also it says the year model is 73. I will post another picture later of the vin on the frame and the engine later today. Thanks for trying to help
