Street Tracker Assembly

Almost a month has gone by since my last update.
Haven't had much time to put into the bike been a bit busy doing other things. The laptop I do all my drawings on died the only stuff that was not properly backed up was the drawings. Fortunately I had a paper copy of the wiring diagram that I had printed off for checking.
The wiring is 95% finished now, it is a very time consuming job and ended up a bit cramped under the seat. The wires in the headlights did eventually fit. Just need to go through and check the ignition wiring and put a couple of plugs on.

My intension is to sort the clutch and brake MC's out next and work on some offset sprocket arrangement to give some more chain to tyre clearance.

Finished off some small reservoirs for the clutch and brake master cylinders. The clutch is off a VTR1000 designed to be horizontal when fitted to a clip on handle bar, but when on the bikes flatter bars it was on an angle and looked horrible. So the new one has a straight rather than angled outlet, these were made in a mill and I got a machinist to cut the cap threads in a lathe.

Had a flash on inspiration for the decompressor lever when looking at a kid's pushbike. The lever is a front brake of a learner's bike, the cable holes and length were all wrong but it was sorted out in the end. Later I may make a longer dog leg lever to make it easier to operate.

Started making an offset front sprocket found an old one and took the teeth off it, now it needs to be welded and have the centre relieved. That job has been farmed out to the machine shop. I will make the rear spacer but will wait to measure the finished off set so the chain is aligned correctly.

My camera has gone on the blink, just as I was about to give up and throw it out it started working again (after a fashion) however the date and time is mucked up on some photos.

To help with motivation I sat the body work on and took some photos. I thought the petrol cap supplied with the Omar's tank was a bit plain so a while ago made a fancy one, I think it is probably a bit over the top now so there may be another one that's less flashy in the future.
I also think that I should have made some cut outs in the front guard as it looks a bit of a slab from the side, another job for later. It didn't look too bad when it was black but now in white ...

Fitted the fork brace its sort of a cross between a SV 650 and an Omar's skeletonised one.

Also discovered that another small inner guard will be needed to stop spray from the rear wheel but will make this out of polycarbonate.

There is still a lot to do but the list is getting shorter.

Been a bit slack and haven't posted photos of the finished bike.
I took these in December last year.
Haven't been for many rides on it but it seems to go ok but it really could do with some decent rear shocks. However money and time is now diverted to another project.

Thank you esw33 and scabber. Winter is almost here so the good days are not that frequent but I must get it out and iron out those little niggles.

Holy thread resurrection Batman etc.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but the swingarm use here really caught my eye, is it a one-off or from another bike? Is it longer than the standard XS swinger? Also, what hub have you used on the rear?

Any info would be much appreciated,

Joe

Joe, The swing arm is off a Kawasaki ZXR or maybe ZZR 600 with the mono shock taken off and dual shock mounts welded on. Will check on the length of the swing arm later today and let you know.

The wheels are Warp 9 super motard wheels for a KXF250/450. I would not use them again, the PCD of the rear sprocket mount is too big for the XS’s small rear sprocket. To get clearance for the tyre you also need to use off set sprockets. To get the gearing right I used high ratio primary gears.

Next time I would source a rear hub disc from an early GS 750, KZ, TDR 250 or use an XS front hub.

I think another potential option could be a sportster rear hub, I think some others have used them.
