When putting advance rod bushings/bearings inside the cam, what are Mike's needle bearings intended to replace? The description for the needle bearings says they are a replacement for the bronze bushings. But it also says they install flush with the ends of the cam...which is where the labyrinth seals are. So are the needle bearings a replacement for the bushes, or the labyrinth seals?

Opinions from anyone who is running the needle bearings, in either position, would be helpful. Thanks.

The early XS1's used needle bearings, with labyrinth seals on the outside. Later, the needle bearings were replaced with bushings, keeping the labyrinth seals where they were. In the case of the MikesXS needle bearings, follow their instructions, with the needle bearings outboard, flush with the ends, where the labyrinth seals used to be. The inner zone, which originally held the bushings, will be empty.
