FREE parts, mainly xs650 engines at least 6 complete engines (447), case covers, heads, cylinders, Xs650 frames w/ clean titles taped to the frames, Ducati parts, tools, etc.

LOCATED on the sidewalk of 168 North 14th Brooklyn, NY 11249. Thrown out at 3:30pm on 11/12.

Please note that Works (motorcycle shop) has nothing to do with these parts. A parking tenant threw the parts out. DO NOT CALL the shop about the parts, they do not know anything about them.

Do NOT reply to my post. I will not reply. You have all the info needed to get the parts. They are on the sidewalk, so hurry up.

No doubt! Awesome...hopefully someone who will use the stuff picks it up and not some fiend scrapper. Old Trident sissy bar in back would be first in my trunk if I were just little closer.

i saw this post right after it went up and blew me away, if i had the time i would have driven the 1054 miles and got it all, but i'm working too much and used all my vaca, damn damn damn damn

I don't know if I buy this. If you are a shop near by that does XS650 why would you not take the stuff. Plus title taped to frames????
I have a friend who lives in Brooklyn and asked him to ride by and I got no answer back so unless one of you Brooklyn guys got there first I think this is a early APRIL FOOLS JOKE

There is still a few small xs parts still out there and some tools and shelves, but I think thats going to be scrap. A forum member stopped by and got a basket case, someone got a 848 gas tank, and S2R frame. Stuff went pretty quick.

So what I don't get and I have a problem with is if you took the picture why didn't you clean up. That sounded like over $2000 in parts
I know people dump stuff . I once got a 99 GSXR Busa motor for nothing because someone left it in a garage of a friend. So we will see . I know there are a bunch of XS650 guys in Brooklyn so maybe some of this stuff will show up. It just sounded too good to be true.

hmmmmmm........I am agreement with you DG. what is it that dear aged mother always said.........ah yes, if it is to good to be true, it more than likey is.

If I have to explain, you might not understand (no offence intended). Here in NYC, most people pay a lot of money to live in small apartments (average is around $3k/800sqft), and most of us do not have the luxury of a garage. Most apartments have narrow stairs and hauling a motor up a few floors is not fun, I know this from experience. Then to disassemble a engine in your apartment is even more of a pain, because there is no room, and don't forget the constant worry of getting oil on your floor or furniture. Keep in mind that you have to store the parts somewhere till they sell or till you need them.

In the end, its not worth the hassle, you may think you are making money, but it becomes more of an ordeal than its worth. I know this from experience.

Just to give you an idea, on average, it cost about $175-225/month to park your motorcycle in a 3'x8' space in a indoor garage. At most, you may have space to store a gas can and your helmet/jacket next to your bike and renting a small commercial space or a one car garage here can easily cost you over $1k month.

Why do you think the engines, frames and parts where thrown out? It costs more to store them than they are worth. Its not worth the hassle to some people to try and sell them. Its the beauty and curse of living here, sometimes you find some cool stuff and then sometimes you have to part with things in a hurry.

I know NY lived there 13 yrs but next time if you find something like that and you want to make money to pay for your apartment email me. I would have PAID a finders fee or even split the profit 50/50 and all you needed to do is stand there. I take in bikes all the time or just parts and sell them for that person and its a 50/50 split and I do all the work you just collect money. I bought a XS 650 from a store in Brooklyn two years ago because no one would take it and it was on there side walk for over a year. so I do know how things go down in NY with Space. My shop in NY had a $3500.00 overhead just to walk in the door and that's why I moved to NJ for a bigger lower price shop. OK have a nice day

Seems like some hate over a member posting a great deal. WTF? Someone made out, hopefully due to Desmo's post it was someone on here! Deals do happen, I had a guy call me a few years ago, "saw your posts on XS650 I have two XS's kinda ignored, forgotten, come get them." Sure, how much you want? No just come get them! Ended up with 2 titled standards for an investment of $20 to get a replacement title from DMV. Funny, he lived three miles away, but found me through the forum.
So; Thanks for the heads up to the members Desmo!

Not no hate on my part toward him. You read it wrong. I originally though it was a joke. If the guy wanted to make money I would have been there in 2 hours. Some times things that sound good are not true.

Not hate. Just frustration of narrowly missing out on 6+ engines, titled frames, for free! Daddyg is super cool, from personal experience. And the best finds are yet to come...

No its funny because I do know where all the stuff went and it didn't go to a member because I did send a friend there and he found nothing but junk. All of NY and people who still live there know what I am about to say. The STREET TRASHERS most likely got it all. There are 10 to 1 person on the streets that collect trash in NY. We use to laugh and make bets of how long a piece of furniture would stay on the side walk. There are people who take your trash as fast as you put it out. CANS / BOTTLES any metal is worth gold to them. That guy who put the stuff out new this and I bet in the first hour all the metal was gone. I have seen a landlord put the renters stuff out and 20 people show up out of no where and its gone. My daughter was moving from one house to another and the movers put some of the stuff on the lawn before it went into the truck and somehow the NINJA TRASHER got two pieces of a dinning room set. GONE in a flash. So that's why I thought it was a joke. Its a different world living in BROOKLYN QUEENS STATEN ISLAND if the RATS don't carry it away the rats with two feet get it everytime. I hope some XS650 guy got one piece. HAHA

It's not just NYC Even out here in the sticks (on a state highway) some piece of crap I can't give away on CL, end of the driveway with a free sign POOF! stuff seldom lasts an hour. What the heck, I dumpster dive too.......................

Where I live people grab stuff quick too. But, if you put a "free" sign on it, no one will take it. Just have to set it out with no sign. Odd.
My neighbor and I did a test one day with his 2 tvs and a coffee table. Sat for 5 days until he removed the sign, then 'poof!', lol.

An economy based on what you can get up ten flights of stairs is a lot like an economy based on what you can carry on a motorcycle.

LOL yupper.

Not quite dumpster dive but put 500 miles on the van yesterday to bring this home. 04 FJR 1300, I cannot stop myself from grabbing a fall deal on a "Gentleman's Express" Put 40 on it yesterday and prolly a bunch more this afternoon.

Not hard to believe. Workt in scrapyard for a while. U guys couldn't imagine the stuff ppl throw out. Once did a roof for this very rich older lady. She asked if I needed any rugs cause she was gonna throw them out. Brand new. She didn't like color/look of them. I didn't want or need them but helped her move them to the road with a free sign. It was only while moving them that I noticed a price tag on the underside of them.....brand new...one was over $12k and the other two were still few grand. I changed my tune n threw them in truck. Sold the big one for $500. Got one in my living room.
Good score!
