The cap is fairly easy to locate. The locking mechanism not so and prices reflect that. Dogbunny has both or try gggGary.

I have a cap that I'm not using. It is a new repro part, maybe purchased from Mikes? I don't recall...but it's definitely not OEM. I didn't end up using it because it didn't fit my XS750 tank. If I recall, I needed a standard cap, vs the special tank cap that it is. Let me know if you want it...I can send pics and take measurements if you want.

73-75 XS650 caps fit that 75 tank some XS500 caps LOOK like they are the same.

Yea send me some pics of what you have

Those caps were/are also on XS650 73TX, 74TXA, 75XSB.......... TX750 73-74.................... TX/XS500 73-75 ........................ RD250 73-75.................... RD350 73-75.

looking at the Yamaha part no x reference with other models, it also says the same cap is on the XS1B and XS2. This is wrong those caps are completely different

Here you go.
The gas cap securing screw to the front of the tank opening is approx. 1/2" (This is what I would measure on your tank first). Then, measure the screw to the locking pin, on this cap, it measures approx. 2 1/2".

Send me a PM if you want it.

Whoops... I guess I should have read the year better. Sorry about that. Good luck and I will keep my eyes open in my searches.
