I'm thinking about upgrading my rear suspension this winter while I have the bike(79 Special) down for some other maintenance. What aftermarket rear suspension are you folks fans of? I'm looking to keep the cost around $150.
Thanks!

I'm not sure you can get good stuff for $150. I think you need to spend more like $250. Or you might get lucky shopping for good used brand name stuff. I did with these Konis for $60 .....

Stock shocks were about 12 1/2" to 12 3/4" long. Shop for something from there up to about 13.5" long. My Konis are about 13 1/4".

If I get the wife a really nice Christmas gift, I bet I could con her into expanding my budget a little! I was looking at the Monza's on MikesXS but want to do some research before I buy anything. I'll look up those Konis for sure.

Mike,

Double your budget and a raft of good options will be available. David at Hagon's California office is great to work with and can customize shocks specific to your bike, your weight and your riding style. I've also had very good results with Progressive Series 12 shocks at a similar price point.

Koni went out of production. Under a special agreement koni shocks were re-badged as Ikon shocks, so if you buy a set of Koni's and they need to be rebuilt, Ikon will do it.

Ikon.

The story. how Koni became Icon.

USA Distributors.

I have no interest in this company, other than to provide information on an alternative shock
