Who here has a "different " pet?

They look sneaky to me.

Well, they are after all, Cats. We have a cat too named Tiki. Her name at the adoption center was Kiki, but our daughter who lives in France said no, no, That is the name we give to a little boy's wiener. So we changed it just enough that she would recognize it, and she does come when we call her. Very interested in Globito, she loves to watch him hunt mice. They aren't allowed to play together because she feels him with her paw, then wants to feel him with her teeth and that is too close to biting. She could kill him if she could figure out how, and he could wrap twice around her neck. Neither of them would get a happy ending.

I've had a painted turtle, caught in the wild, for the past 23 years. Easy to take care of, 20 gal. aquarium, reptile food from Walmart, He's in water with a brick above the water to sit on. This turtle truly loves me. He likes to watch TV, splashes in the water to get my attention, likes to dance with me. I swear this turtle thanks me every time I feed him. He is a vicious hunter, he can bite a goldfish in half and takes his time planning the attack, he even plays hunting games with me without hurting himself on the glass. He slows down, doesn't eat much, for about a month every year, nothing to do with temperature or light, he just has his own calendar. I never knew that a reptile could have this much personality.

Now THAT is one serious toad!

When Queen Vic split up the Empire, you Aussies didn't just get better weather than us...you got all the cool critters too!

I've got a couple Desert Tortises in the back yard. Only see them a few months in the summer. Rest of the time hibernation or hideing. Each of then have a different personality.

Decided to make a real pet of this little critter. Been feeding him/her some mince every day. feed off my finger today........At least i can go away for a couple of days and not have to worry about who will look after it..............All up he/she is about 500mm long. Still small they can get to a couple of feet or so

Not having anything like lizards in my area, that thing looks totally alien to me. We do have black salamanders with yellow spots.

When I was about 7 or 8 I was in our woods turning over logs and rocks to see what bugs and stuff I could find. I turned over a log, there was this dragon looking thing standing on two back feet, I think it had four feet. It stood about 2 or three inches high, had scales I think that were shiny dark purple and green. This thing was obviously surprised and shocked to see me, it let out a scream and ran off very fast standing up. Checking occasionally over the years, we are not supposed to have any species like this around here or even anywhere else, this was decades before pet stores were selling any lizard pets around here. I think about this whenever I hear about bigfoot sightings. I'm a believer in undiscovered species because of this.

Not sure if this girl qualifies as a different pet when compared to some posted here but she is ours. This is Libby!

She's a twice retired Greyhound! She started out a a race dog and after a fairly successful career on the track she was selected to go into training as a Service Dog. Once through training she did work as a Service Dog helping a Vet who among other problems had PTSD. Unfortunately due to this persons health problems he was not able to care for the dog and needed to find someone to take her. As we had dog sat for her a couple time while he was in the hospital we agreed to adopt her. We did contact the training people and they said due to her age and the need to retrain her it would be best if we kept her. We do have her Service Dog vest and my wife take her out now and then shopping in local stores. More or less to "train" the public on how to act around Service Dogs. It is interesting that young kids seem to respect the dog and ask before just touching the dog like too many adults do.

For any that still don't know you should never touch or talk to a service dog without talking to the owner first, they are on the job and any distraction can throw off their concentration and could cause a problem for the owner.

I have sort of a virtual pet. I made a Twitter bot that finds other peoples tweets about their cats and dogs and then turns them into tweets about "Bernie", and tweets the continuing saga of Bernie every two hours. So I can see what my pet dog (or cat) is up to. It's pretty funny sometimes.
