What have you done to your XS today?

Danged 5 mile long google image file names anyways! fixed it, sorry.
Tossed together some old parts I had laying around.

Now I suppose I need to build a bike to stuff these under.

That ma plan. puller should be here tomorrow, if the mailman can get thru the ice. we have had nothing in our mail box for two days.

Just got my 3 roller stud puller. it is all inclosed and just looks like a deep socket. gave it a try, won't grab the stud and I have no idea how to make it grab the stud. Too late in the day to do heavy thinking and the dog is ready to share some recliner time so I'mm give it a good look tomorrow.

What a cluster XXXX. The write up is so bad on this tool. They said it had a range of M6 to M16 Truth is it has almost no range at all. You have to by individual pullers for each size in the range. I tried it on the threads which measured around 8.5mm and it grabbed but I need it to grab the shank of the stud which is about 7.5mm, no way. I bought it thru amazon and they have a great return policy. I just gave it to ups and they have already credited my account. I ordered a M8 replacement and am keeping my fingers crossed.

Almost forgot got my 19 inch mags in to an independent shop today to get the tires dismounted. I tried the local Yamaha shop and found their labor rate is $125.00/hour. about had a stroke. I'll take them to the powder coater on Monday. I want to do some polishing on the exposed aluminum so I want to find out whether powder or polish comes first.

WT100 I think you will like the ease and results of this method. I don't know that it matters but I give the occasional shake when doing this.

Yes, I have done it once before with good results. Just depends on if the rust has gone too far and created pin holes. I'm hoping to not have to line the tank. :)

Put UNI pod filters and a "Standard" gas tank on my '81. New throttle cable and grips. Put on rebuilt BS34s
61 degrees and was going to go for a ride, but I have no 1/4" fuel line so I filled the bowls and started the bike to make sure it ran. Sounds good, idled great and throttle responded well.

Stripped out a petcock trying to switch the plug/fitting around on another tank. Put a new petcock on and then the mounting screws started leaking. Have to order some seals.
Stripped another '81 down to the frame/engine. Pulling the engine in a day or two. Have to change valve stem seals and turn the cam back around.
Not a bad day though.

Reamed new valve guides, Lapped valves, started CB performance elephant foot adjuster mod, and sorted/organized parts bins. I'm hoping to get the top end assembled this weekend while the girls are out!

Started to get my two 19" wheels disassembled to go to powder coating. Had to order a blind bearing puller so that job came to a screeching stop. Found a cheap set on E-Bay. it cost less than the labor quote from the shop and I end up with a tool. pretty sure the quality is not going to be geat but with any luck it will only have to pull 4 bearings one time and I'll probably never need it again. I am now experimenting on my spare cases trying to get studs removed. heated them up real good and now letting them cool. Hopefully I can get a good procedure figured out before I am doing it on my good cases.

remove while hot not after they cool, that lets the locktite reharden!
Get one stud warm with a propane torch, remove it, repeat.

Gary......Actually the top eight came out fairly easily after they had cooled. Didn't really see any signs of locktite on the threads. have to try the case studs now. I will try your method with the propane torch. Thanks.
