Stalls when I put it in gear.

That fanning tip is great! I've had great success today using your method minus the fanning. It's almost perfect. I'll try the fanning when I put the new cable on.

Hey guys, one more slight problem. It is going in gear like it should be but now it is very hard to get out of gear. Is this normal with new plates?
Are you saying it is hard to find neutral or it is hard to shift to another gear?

Me and this guys bikes must be twins as his symptoms are my symptoms exactly...need oil and plates going in tmrw and we will see

Does anyone know where I can get an adjustable kickstand? The bike was lowered quite a bit by the p.o. and the kickstand that is on it cannot be cut off anymore and it is still too long.

pic of this already cut side stand? I had to cut a inch off mine. I cut it between the lowest attachment point of the spring, and the foot/pad. welded it back up, perfect lean.

Too low and handling will suffer. Also spinning down the road on your foot peg doesn't sound fun. U might have to buy a weld on custom. Or cut more if what you have, and use a shorter spring. Hardware store usually have a good selection

Okay guys, 1 more problem. Now I have oil running out of the cover where the worm drive is. Am I right in thinking that it is the seal around the push rod for the clutch? Is that the only place it could be leaking from?

No, there's actually like 4 different spots under that cover that could be leaking - sprocket, starter gear cover, shift shaft seal, along with the pushrod seal you mentioned.

Yes, take the cover off and start it. Leave the clutch pushrod in place or oil really will pour out. Two most common spots are the pushrod and the countershaft sprocket. Check the nut holding the countershaft sprocket on. It's very common for it to loosen up and that creates a very big leak.

When you replace the seal make sure you have smoothed off that outer razor sharp edge before pushing the seal in. I did mine using a fine file but first packed tissue to stop filings getting into the gearbox and then when finished the light filing and a final smoothing with fine wet and dry I flushed all the filings out with loads of WD40 then removed the tissue.

Thanks Paul, will do. Seal is on the way from mikesxs.com. anyone have any better places to buy parts? I heard Mike's can be cheaply made and there isn't a yamaha dealer around my area.
