As I've taken every opportunity to mention, my new ride is a '16 Yamaha FJ09. So, of course, I joined the appropriate forum.

Some feller over there bitching about vibration...Woooooooooo, I about pissed myself. He has no freakin' idea...

Yeah....its the same on the ST Owners Forum which supports my long distance ride. That thing will do 140 mph (of course, I haven't done that - because that would be exceeding the speed limit - but I am told that it will go that fast) without breathing hard and it feels like you're sitting on your couch.

They talk about "handlebar buzz" or a "tingling sensation in my butt" or feeling a "bit of vibration in the footpegs"....

Pussies....

Haha Haha! Oh my God, that's funny! It's so true though. I grew up on 70's era bikes and have owned a number of them in recent years. They didn't have no stinking counter balancers, the mirrors turned into useless blurs as soon as you move. On my old Triumph the tach used to rotate in the housing when the the rpm's were just right, and the front tire used to bounce up and down while idling at a stop.
I am also a member of a modern bike forum and am always amused at guys who want to remove every reminder that they are riding a motorcycle. " Ooh I'm getting a little buffeting around my helmet."
So drive your car then.

Mid 90's I had the pleasure of working at a local BMW shop. Fixed clutches, trannys, servicing, recalls mostly . But, I do remember installing a Cell Phone on a R1100RT ! It totally freaked me out as I couldn't imagine anyone desiring to be in phone contact while out riding ? And unfortunately, Couldn't always hide my smirking at a few of the customers who should just be in a car anyways. Will say however, working with some of the old airhead bikes was true joy ! pleasurable personalitys those old R bikes had. All the modern ammenities on the others didn't fit my mindset though. I moved on...

Waitaminit...
Wasn't there a recent raggin' on the "kickstart-only" guys recently?
Not to mention the (masochistic) no-suspension crowd...

Hi 2Many,
plus the mockery for the mini-signal/no signal minority and the extreme apehanger loons
and don't forget how much contempt we hold the "no front brake" suicide pilots in, eh?

Yep, Marty is telling it like it is, but Society rally conduct wasn't always like that! John Chaves disciplined offenders with ridicule, and if that didn't work he applied the dutch rub till they confessed their errors, begged for mercy, and swore to clean up their act. Marty's technique was to walk offenders behind the woodshed to get their attention where there were no witnesses, so that he could explain the error of their ways. It took some doing, but thanks to the efforts of John and Marty, whining and contention are now completely absent from Society events, correction is no longer required, and the spirit of peace and brotherhood reigns. BTW 2M, why don't you take a break from your research work and join us in Arkansas? You'd have a fine time, I guarantee it!

Griz, It's my dying wish to be able to attend one of your rallies. Too many stars out of alignment right now.

- Austin's Handbuilt show is in the same timeframe.
- My bikes need a lotta work.
- Disabling health/wellness issues...
