I totally agree with littlebill31!
Its also an emergency safety device. You're driving at high speed into a corner, carrying too much speed; and try to back off on the throttle, but the throttle is jammed and realize you're going to end up in the ditch/trees. You hit the kill switch, and hold on with both hands hoping for the best, and maybe apply the front brake if possible. Its not the time to take one hand off the bars to reach for the ignition switch. With both hands on the bars you may have a chance to steer to a safe spot.

To clean up my handlebars, I installed a toggle on the top of my headlight bucket. Not
ideal as it is not within thumb reach, but its there.

Hmmmmm......perhaps I am confused (surprise!!) - but doesn't your bike already have a kill switch on the RH handlebar George?

I hope you're right Pete. I'm running the stock switch. Are the 'off' positions also known as kill?

Yup - to me, the three position switch on the RH handlebar is a kills switch. The three positions usually are labelled OFF-ON-OFF and OFF is usually translated as KILL.

Hmmmm.
