As we all know on occasion a rare or nos part will pop up on ebay. Some sellers will strategically place a part on the card with the part number and you cant see it. Other times they sell repops at a nos price.
I found the lock mechanism for my 71. I was hoping to find one before I accidentally scratch the hell out of the tank.
I got it for $80, its chrome, came with two keys corded together, part number
341-24602-01
I haven't installed it yet, but it opperates smoothly, is a sharp casting with a key code
2619. I hope its nos, i paid $80 for it
If this should be in the lounge, ill give myself 10 cat-o-nines daily untill gggary moves it
Btw, how do i remove the roll pin that is still in my cap?

Hmmmmm........
Cms lists them for £42.50? They dont have any, but the keys are corded the same, according to the pic.
Im guessing re-pop. But you know, I haven't been able to find a new one, seems to work smoothly, just wish i hadnt paid near double. Oh, well.

Looks Genuine to me Angus b.t.w. 341 is the TX 750 model number, but i think they are the same. All of the parts i've picked up over years with that scrunched up pink label have been Genuine parts. But yes i guess they can copy anything these days. If the quality is good its probably the real Mc coy.

Uhoh. Was it just a push button?

Yep, for 70-72.

Here's the parts fiche (note hook pushbutton #21):

1973 TX650 was a strange year. GggGary knows more about these.
Here's the 1973 TX650 parts fiche (note lock #12):

I'd say that the NOS/RePop game is risky for years 70-74.
75 is the first year that the title "XS650" appeared, and a lot of aftermarket suppliers will only offer stuff labelled as 75-later. Sort of a comfortable starting point, when the jinxed TX moniker disappeared and the goofy/wierd changes settled down...

I bought some NOS brushes for $20. Pic of them in a pack with Yamaha tag. I got them in a package with no tag or anything; just ziplock bag. They look too new to be NOS.

I notice the bag genuine Yamaha bag/package game played a lot with supposed NOS parts.

Then you look at the country listed....Malaysia, yeah...no thanks!

On my '72 I've still got the original ignition switch and key that I took off but the key doesn't seem to work in the fork lock. Was that the same key or perhaps the tumblers are as ganked up as the rest of the bike was?

Took apart my cap for a better look... no joy
I paid near $80. Expecting half. You want it? Pm me

Angus. Noticed that you posted disassembling your gascap in the "What have you done" thread. Just something to watch for.

Part #17 slides over the post #18 during cap open/close. I've found roughness, leading to binding, on that post. Makes the cap hard to close. I've had to smooth/polish mine, plus a little grease, so that the cap closes easily.

Also, wonder of wonders, I found a neoprene washer to replace part #15, exact match, at one of the local hardware stores. It hasn't split at all. Must be a standard size...

Mine doesn't slide, but the cap closes easy. On the rubber washer, mine isnt split at all, but groovey. Just going to flip it over.
