I plan to ride up an Iceage Glacial Valley today. It starts where the M4 meets the A470, about 1.5 miles from home. Let's see how the XS copes???

Missed this post.
Enjoy your ride hope all goes well :) We'll want to see some pics at least
Fired mine up yesterday and took it on a quick blast round the block. Its a bloody hooligan of a bike. The raw power really took me by surprise, no comparison with my old Triumph T6 or BSA 650 years ago

crikey ! that far North !..... lets hope Hadrian's Wall holds up ....wouldn't want any of those Picts getting their hands on a XS650 would we ;):D
'Fraid they are more like Hadrian's foundations now - the rest probably taken by persons unknown and perhaps not English...if you get my drift! :sneaky:
Midnight's Glacier is well protected by his big bro' Mr Max (V) who will dismember on sight any intruder who is daft to intrude regardless of race.:gun:

I'm stil building mine brat style 277 Rephase, but work and lack of money keeps putting me back should have the engine done soon but won't be on the road until 2019, so stuck with this for now!

immaculate presentation !

Looks big for a 250cc Does it share the same size frame and wheelbase of the larger capacity Kawas ?

Hi all Uk xs650 riders:bike: .Just was thinking how many UK members would make the effort to meet some where in the Uk:cheers: . Who would be up for it .... Summers on its way and we can organise a location, what do think :umm:
I suppose the best way to start this is to post on this thread if your a uk member with you city or town location and take it from there :smoke: What say you .ll the best Funky

I am up for that - I live in Surrey.

don't hold your breath Mark...:( I tried to get a meet together on the UK XS650 forum once and there was no interest !.

Its a pity but there is just too much apathy . I reckon the best chance of making something like this work is to decide on a venue to meet at ,....like a classic bike and car show/fair /sale/Museum etc There are various venues around the Country like the 39th Carole Nash Bristol Classic Motorcycle show at the Bath & West showground.
Or maybe find a charity run like the annual Gentlemens Ride in September which has various venues around the Country London ,Bristol etc .

I'm always on the lookout for classic bike owners in my locale to see if I can join them for a ride occasionally, maybe arrange a mini tour or something. The chances of finding another XS650 owner local to you are probably pretty slim .

Peanut, glad you tried but maybe the lack of interest was down to how many people bother with this UK bit of the site? I looked when I first joined, saw the very old date of the last post, then went to and largely stayed in the Garage. Maybe the Lounge would be better?

Winter has struck early but I'd be glad to meet for a ride next season. I have a mate with an H1 who'd be up for it too .... he's somewhere between Monmouth and Ross I think so could be fun to bimble out his way. Or maybe visit Paul in Cardiff if he fancies it.

The possibilities are, er, several :)

Nighthog - I was there too, just one XS that I saw, flat tracker style. Cadwell is just a spit away from me, so if you're going next year? I'm hoping that I will be racing by then, albeit not on my XS...

You have better eyes than me, or maybe I was in the clubhouse trying to warm up!
I'll definitely be in touch next time I'm up your way. And good luck with your racing project - don't be shy with pics!

I did try to get some idea of the number of Brit members a few years ago but that didn't get much response either.

i joined the UK XS650 forum a number of years ago as a Moderator . The site was quite active and I set up a Tech and Article sections and a list of Yamaha dealers and sellers ..unfortunately that site seems to have gone quiet now too. There was some response to a suggestion of UK meets but again distances of many 100s of miles were just impractical for most.

Good idea about a meetup with Paul and your pal in Monmouth, Wales has some fantastic roads and scenery. There is a week long annual 'Dragon' run for classic bikes between South Somerset and somewhere in Wales . I'll see if I can find a linky . ;)

here we go its the VMCC Club and the Dragon run sounds like a hoot .

Dragon run sounds fun but I can't do a week! Not enough holiday time, still working .... but a day or two would be good.
I have lots of jobs to do on the bike before spring, and all will naturally need a road test, so come the better weather, a run down your way in search of a coffee would be good. I'll be in touch in case you fancy a brew :) Small matter of first getting building work completed (long story I won't bore you with now), garage turned into something useable and then actually fitting the parts I've already bought and being a bit creative with another couple of bits.

Hope you see you next year then!

you're on ... I've got a bit of fettling to do to mine too.
Bike rides like it has a ball and socket joint in the middle so very hairy in any head or crosswind.
Also have a grinding rattle noise to investigate........ then the usual Spring carb job,... some new tyres and a lot of cleaning/polishing .
I've toyed with the idea of some forward controls and a comfy reclining armchair :laugh2:

Always welcome here for a brew a natter .and a blast down the coast to West bay or somewhere..or we could meet half way at Haynes Motor Museum . They have a Sunday Bikers breakfast 1 Sunday every month and there were a few XS650 last time I went.
keep in touch
Johnny
