What have you done to your XS today?

RG, how many times have you had that response before? I'm beginning to think you're a masochist. :poke:

When you post on the internet, I guess everyone thinks that they will get agreement and lots of "likes". The world does not work like that. You will sometimes get disagreement, so halfmile shouldn't have such a thin skin, and start yelling with Capital letters. It shows immaturity.
I respect his opinion, that he doesn't like my sarcasm. However, I will continue to speak up when I disagree with his posts, or any other posts.

I agree RG, that is not how the world works, but I also agree with him, he owns it. He can do whatever he wants with it. Still think you're a masochist for doing so though. :poke: :banghead: Don't you know the definition of insanity?

Now now RG everyone is entitled to their own opinion..... I personally like the Yamaha on the side....it's a badge of Honor to me !

He absolutely is. I don't care either way, I just know he was beating his head against the wall 5 years ago. Some things don't change.

I took off my exhaust so I can re-do the 'port' header. Then I drove to Lakewood and bought this...It's a 650, just not a Yamaha. I've
wanted one of these for a few years. We'll see how it goes.

Thats pretty cool, an old NT650 correct? Pretty advanced when it came out. Bet it handles nice! You think you'll have any trouble with parts availability? It was a short run as I recall.

Yeah, it's an '88 and pretty much unmolested. It's been sitting for a few years and the carbs are somewhat plugged (for some reason!) but it runs. I ordered a service manual and carb rebuild kits. I have checked and some oem parts are still available. There's also 'fleabay'.

Well, this past weekend....I installed my new brushes and redid points gaps and cleaned them. I was suffering from major popping on the right side. Doing all those things helped her out. I am still getting some pops on decel. Prior to the changes, it was difficult to start and the popping was occurring during acceleration too. Starting much improved and she accelerated very well. But, I can't go far yet.

Mackels I had the same thing on my 82' it turned out to be the air mixture screw on the BS34CV carbs. i pulled the brass plugs and followed the carb settings in the technical refrence here on this site .
i think this is the link.....http://www.xs650.com/threads/cleaning-carbs.3/
....
after that I synced the carbs and it's like a new bike now, starts with no problem and runs great.
good luck !
Bob........

I made up a 6 hole template and drilled the rear rotor. Yesterday I drilled the wheel. Tomorrow I`ll polish the caliper bracket and install the rear wheel assembly and the chain. Hopefully that will get it on it`s wheels again for the last time.

Halfmile, That's gotta be one light wheel assy. Looks good!

Thanks. I`m using 4 different Hammered finishes on this bike. The selection doesn`t offer much as far as contrasting colors go so I`ll just polish more aluminium parts and see if I like it or not. The hammered finishes are certainly forgiving to any surface imperfections I might have missed though.

Not much....heard a valve clackin a bit so I did a quick valve check. #2 intake was a touch loose. Checked some other bits that tend to loosen up as the miles pass...Jeese, I love rideing this bike.....working on her is theropy too.... Hmmmm... where to this long week ?... ohh the possibilities.....Check Roosevelt lake again?......Tucson-79-60 junction-Globe-Tucson triangle? Supersition Mt?....
Update. Really smoothed the engine out. Very smooth running during the breakfast run.

Got it up on 2 wheels today after fighting with Chinese chain adjusters. Just through them away and cleaned up the OEM ones, and it went right together. Also mounted the controls and a few other things. I`m ready to see this with the tank, seat and pipes mounted just for inspiration.
