$350 oooh thanks. Yeah, at the right price I would just keep it for myself and swap plates when I wanted to ride it. But a title in Michigan is possible, but not as easy as it used to be.

I HATE HATE HATE government paperwork. It really bugs me when some smug person who cares little for their own job - takes it out on me and my aspirations.

Apparently, it is now IMPOSSIBLE to re-title a bike in Ontario that has had an accident or been stolen and recovered. Regardless of how minor the crash was - if it is reported, the accident will appear on the title which then becomes a "salvage" title - and you cannot sell a salvage titled bike for anything other than parts. The same thing happens if the bike is stolen - even if it is recovered by the police and returned to its owner. It cannot be re-sold and put back on the road.

Stupid.
 
Funny thing about this title talk. When I moved I seemed to have misplaced mine from NH. Now, NH won't issue a duplicate for vehicles older than 1999. So what can I do? I emailed WI DOT and NH DOT.....NH issues a letter indicating that they don't issue dups anymore. I had my last registration from 2011. I went to the WI DOT and not only got my WI registration, but I also got the title. The kicker....my VIN is 3 numbers short. I am missing the 447 portion of it. I recall convincing the lady in NH back in 01 that "it's an old bike, they had short VINS back then"
 
Yeah, the short VIN on my bikes raised some eyebrows but there are A LOT of old bikes in this area and the MOT seems to be calming down about things.

Wow that's harsh! I've never heard such a strict interpretation of a salvage title.

Yeah, about 15 years ago our Gov't took a hard left and started sucking the fun out of life on a wide array of issues.

I should have named this thread "My search for new trouble". I went to look at a "78 CB750A which was the Hondamatic. the lady I met with told me her hub died last March and she was cleaning out all his pack rat stuff. among them were several bikes. the 750 was all there, in decent shape and not froze up although it sat for 20 years. she has the title and was willing to take my offer but I told her I wanted to do just a little more research into the automatic thing. I'm very familiar with the 750-750K but not so much with the A model. They only made them for three years so parts may be a little difficult to find IDK. while I was there she let me rummage around through his shelves of parts and I ran across this. frame450.JPG it's an old CL450. missing a few things and you can see I spilled oil when I was tipping the frame to check things out but believe it or not she produced the title for it as well. If the auto-trans on the 750 proves to be not a big deal it would make an awesome cafe racer but the 450 engine was really close in size to an XS so I might be scoring both. she said she would make me a package deal......

We only sold 2 of those things back then. Not a big seller. Kinda rare now, I guess. The fellas that bought them didn't want to have to deal with motorsickle mekanicles and such. Just wanted to ride them.

Real dogs, compared to the CB750s. But, comfortable and smooth. Kinda like comparing a regular Impala to an Impala SS. Different for sure, plop it in gear, leave it in gear, ride everywhere. Couldn't abuse them. Just change oil/filter, occasional tuneup. They just kept on ticking...
 
The automatic trans 750 scares me. Nobody but nobody would no how to work on it, let alone find parts.
But now that 450 scrambler, THATS on my watch list. You hardly ever see them. Even though they are a paint shaker disguised as a motorcycle! Haha!

Thanks 2M. it was a fun experience "picking" through all the parts, tools and accessories stuck in all the nooks and crannies. I told her I wanted to do a little more digging for info before making a decision. I've got a buddy that ran a shop that I can contact tomorrow. he was called "The Honda Dr." and if anyone would know it's him.

Yea MM but it also come with an extra engine and parts. the 450 was just an engine and some covers were missing. they're probably there somewhere but I'd have to look. Wouldn't that be a cool little bike though?
 
I didn't care for the 450's when they came out, only because I couldn't touch the ground then.:lmao: That bigger frame than the 350's soon caught my attention.

Pulled the trigger on the Honda. Talked to a buddy that ran a shop for years and he said the 750A was a good bike,people were just not ready for a no clutch bike. I picked it up this morning, brought it home, cleaned it up a little and pulled off the aftermarket bags and fairing. Wife actually said she liked it! Wingedwheel, that seat could be two different animals. Some of those were seat "kits" that consisted of extra foam and a seat cover for the original pan. Others were sold as a complete unit with a boxy sheet metal pan. If you have the original pan it could be brought back to almost original shape with a seat cover. My '75 GL1000 has the complete aftermarket king/queen seat, I've been looking for an original pan.

Edit, you should have hid that seat before the wife saw it. Those Comstar wheels can grow on you after a few years.
