anyone want my xs?

Sorry - but I disagree XJWMX.

The problem is not reading what they wrote, it is interpreting what they intended to convey AND the tone of the message. Some people's writing is so unclear that figuring out the intention and the mood can really be quite challenging.

For example, I read the title of this thread and immediately assumed that Ron intended to give the bike away for the cost of shipping - or free to a local person. Clearly, others had the same interpretation - to HIS words - while others clearly realized that he was offering the bike for sale. Anyhow, his intentions became clear quickly - which is fine.

....and NOW, I am out on this.

Thanks Yamadude. In regard to customs, I dont even know what the redshoe brigade is.Something derogatory.I am sure I wouldnt like being part of . Country custom or no country custom personal attacks are easy to understand. Counting to 600 will not change that. I personally dont want to ride a big touring bike. It is only so i can ride with my newly formed chapter of Christian Motorcyclists. I have 4 trips of over 300 miles planned in only 2 months time. A little 750 honda is not good for that. Once I do own an xs, it will be done and ready to go.There have been several I passed up.Some people I like, some I don't. I do not like rude people that refer to me as a member of some group. My finances will for what I see right now will probably have to wait until after the first of the year. I hope no longer than that. I have owned 2 bikes at the same time before. There is plenty of room in my life for my venture and an xs when the time comes. Probably 99% of the time I will be on the xs. I also would expect I would be welcome here again.

It is now being given away Max Pete. I just needed money. I know who is taking it will fix it. I would like to see it when they do.

Ron, you should sell it. If it has a clean title, than it has value. You don't have to sell it here. I would refrain from making a hasty decision based on the misinterpretation of your post.

I would like to.I put it on craigslist and CLEARLY stated i will not part it out. That is the Texas custom. Some people don't understand something that is clearly written.

You want my old lady for free? Do I look like an Eskimo?

P.S. Randomly giving stuff away is negative karma. There's karma in very selectively giving. Highest karma is selling for as much as you can get.

randomly giving away...hmmm. Well, see, its like this.First of all I love motorcycles.Secondly I love the 650 yamaha.xs,not star.Thirdly I am selling my house and need to get the garage cleaned out.4th I know people on this forum like the xs and the bike going to one of you will almost guarantee it gets built and ridden.Or some of its valuable parts used in another one to get it running.I have bought and lost before.I wont lose on this one.because i will make someone very happy.paying it forward. In return i expect to get a deal like this for me someday. If not I still have a great bike for a daily rider. All I ask is that whenever this bike is up and going, or some of its parts make another up and going, whomever that is sends me some pictures.I took a suzuki gs 1000, my favorite bike of all time, and brought it back from the grave. What a satisfying feeling. Now its somebody else's turn. One last comment-some people here chop them up, bob them up, and screw them up._Please keep it original if you can.But if not spare no expense.Make it great.

With all due respect to Max Pete, whose humour and insight I have come to appreciate, I am an Oz and I can be genteel and affable as any Yank or Canuck. On the other hand, I can be abrupt and pointed toward those with whom I have lost patience. As a general rule of thumb, Australians are not aggressive unless pushed or confronted with the unreasonable. The billboard Pete is referring to contains an Australian "colloquialism" that is, arguably, not actually a swear term but rather an oath based, as it is, upon the crusader battle chant of "By Our Lady", shortened to "B'Lady" and eventually to "Bloody". As a colloquialism, few Aussies take offence at it's use though we don't use it in church or at the dinner table. Yes, we Australians call a spade a spade but we do not lightly name someone a liar or charlatan without good reason.

I would suggest that Skull and Mr Bayless have some sort of "history" where a slight or some other form of affront has been registered. His reference to a "red shoe brigade" is something of a mystery to me but, during the 1980's wealthy business people of Queensland, typically property developers, perceived as aggressively commercial, vulgarly showy, and politically conservative were referred to as being members of the "white shoe brigade". Some of our most colourful and distrusted property developers were marked with this tag.
Skull has been, in my experience, consistently approachable and ready to support his fellow members but he has, on occasion, shown an unwillingness to tolerate fools. I could name several other members who share this attitude. I fear Skull's antagonistic response to Mr Bayless' thread indicates some sort of earlier transgression, imagined or otherwise. Perhaps Skull's negativity was based on his perception of Mr Bayless' original thread title which does, indeed, give the impression of a "free" motorcycle. To avoid such misunderstandings, we need to proof our texts carefully.
I trust Mr Bayless' financial situation improves before he parts with too many of the things he enjoys.

figure 8-hey, the friend of yours from fort worth came.garrett is his name.I dont know if hes is on this forum, I think he is.He is a serious addict just like myself.I think he already has a couple of xs bikes. So from me he got the bike I had paid $100 for.In addition parts i bought.sidecovers, battery cables, used ignition switch, new kill run switch, points and alternator covers, drivers left footpeg and shifter peg. He didnt want the perfect mikes xs carbs.I spent a lot of money after buying the bike. But he knows the xs, probably already had what i gave him.But its gone.I am down to my running venture.Things being how they are right now i only needed one bike and nothing to worry about fixing.Someday though, i will do another, this time i will be able to drive it home, or at least start it up in the seller's driveway.I told garrett in the past year i owned a virago 920,3 cb650s,2 78 goldwings,2 kz 1000 frames, 2 kz 1000 motors, one beautiful 82 aspencade, one beautiful 95 magna. The only one i lost money on was this xs.But I saved myself spending probably another $1000.I do hope if he gets it running he sends me a picture of it.I really like this forum.I will check in from time to time.I will say my future bike will be another gs bike.750,1000,1100,not sure.I can take one of those motors apart and put it back together and it will actually run.The GS forum has a lot of guys that know those inside and out, but they have a lot of smartasses there. Not my preference.Fortunately I dont need them often. And I AIN'T NEVER going to buy a bike with any known and or obvious wiring issues.

Good deal, and yes he's on here. Wish I had been closer but it went to a good home. I text with Garrett frequently and he has many upgrades already planned.

Hey Ron, it's Garrett. I'm working on the title issues now, but I started a thread on the build that I'll keep as updated as I can. Please follow that one for any updates!

And thank you again for allowing me to clear up your garage space some! My wife sure was thrilled when I came home with it, but my hopes are to have a running bike soon that i can enjoy the fall weather with. Fingers crossed this can actually happen.

Keep active on here and keep in touch. Thanks again and good luck with the move!

what is the name of your thread. Its in the garage forum I presume.I am surprised your wife was glad.Mine sure wasnt. In denton county I took the bill of sale,I had proof of insurance but i doubt that was necessary. But mine was for a licensed inspected bike, not a build. The text online says some guy has to inspect it etc.Not necessary. You have to have a bond. After waiting inline forever they tell me that. The bond lady there was just down the hall.Mine was for a 2001 venture worth about 2,000 so the bond was $150.Yours will be lower, probably half. If noone claims ownership of it in 2 years you get a clear title.I am sure not going to.And the former owner is deceased.Read it online.its a pain to go there and they hit you with some technicality. They for sure want the vin number.I even took a picture of the bike and showed its vin number.Good luck.Hopefully it wont be a hassle.it wont be that bad.Once you get the ok from them they give you a paper to get tags over at the dmv. Here if its a title transfer only sometimes you dont have to have insurance.Explain its a build not a runner. Not a runner though and you get no tags without insurance.Just fyi.

Oh I'm aware of all that. My other XS is a bonded title, so I went through most of the same procedure. Bond minimum is $100, so I think that'll be what I have to pay there. Any the DMV is not there to help you unless the person is kind, otherwise they simply answer the questions you ask, no more.

Fingers crossed its quick and easy to get the VIN inspected tomorrow morning.
