Vacuum Petcock On/Off?

Not seen clear pink. I have tried several neoprene tubes in the last year but they all go hard. I spoke to a guy at a Yamaha club and he said they use a yellow transparent tubing from Yamaha. I have been testing the Tygon F-4040-A yellow fuel tubing and it seems very good. It has not gone hard and has shown only very slight swelling. I bought the 6.4mm ID tubing which has a wall thickness of approximately 1.5mm. The only downside is it is not pink.

Ebay have a range of pink tubing, but you need to specify petrol in your search or else you get loads of silicone tubing listings. Silicone swells badly in petrol and loses its strength.

The petcock nipple is 7mm.....oddly it seems though that most ID tubing is either 6 or 8 mm! Which did you use?

I sent a PM with a link. The Tygon was specified by 6.4 ID only. Fits nicely on my 7mm stopcock.

I use and like the original single wire clips. Probably not lots of holding power but with proper fitting line, you don't need much, maybe none even.

Tygon fuel line, Mikalor wire clamps Made in England.

I use the Mikalor double wire clamps shown by gggGary above. They seem to work very well and I have used 3 different sizes with the Neoprene and Tygon tubing I have tested. You need to make sure you buy the correct size for the OD being used - not much leeway in these clips. With 6.4mm ID Tygon that gives 9.4mm OD (1.5mm wall thickness) and the Mikalor clips I purchased were 9.8mm - 10.4mm. I find they are best fitted by compressing with long nose pliers.

Guys...see pic, I'm unsure on the correct routing for the Vacuum line (not the fuel line). The manual appears to show the line going over to the left side and vice versa....is this correct? Also, is the nipple the correct way around? I would have thought it needs to be turned 180 degrees?IMG_20170819_1035295.jpg

The vacuum barb should face forward. the routing stays on the same side of the bike. left tap to left carb.

I can't believe I managed to get this round the wrong way! (He says whilst completely embarrassed) !!! Thank God for this forum huh!

Now the really weird thing is I've just looked at the rebuild manual again (which I followed when I rebuilt) and it shows the vacuum nipple as facing backwards (ie the same direction as the fuel line).....is this definitely not correct gggGary?

That is definitely not correct, the rebuild thread was lifted from an xs1100 site they may use a different orientation.
