TCI Ignition system

This section is written by engineers for engineers. Yes I can read a schematic.Bad boys rape our young girls... Their are no pictures! The section installing the advance is good..[/QUOTE].

For starters........all of the pamco thread has been taken from threads and from members who were having problems, they asked questions and got answers......these questions and answers have been reproduced as per their threads and members, answers are from Pamcopete himself and other members ..........no engineers as far as i know just novices who were asking questions...........It is a collection from threads, not from an engineers point f view.......a layman's

So what pictures do you want ............every wiring diagram altered to show how a pamco is wired in............then another set to show how the e-advance is wired in...........Go ahead and help out

.there are basic diagrams showing the wiring of the basic pamco and diagrams showing the wiring of the Pamco with e-advance.........Both of these show a hot wire from the kill switch, through a fuse to the pamco and e-advance........all wires are easy to define and show their placement.............it is up to the individual to trace on the loom, for the year and model they have, from the kill switch to the coil and points or coil and igniter and pickup...remove and install pamco/e-advance.....the problem here is people cant read a diagram so they cant understand how the pamco is wired

Bad boys rape our young girls...............what the fuck is this............

First you complain there is no information then you do a write up.......................

C'mon guys don't get nasty here. I was only asking to be sure so I wouldn't fry my system. You know how diagrams can be when they are printed in China. Even some of the Pamco units have the green and red wires reversed in the pics. They even tell you that. When I placed my order I asked to send me one that is labeled correctly. For that much money everything should be labeled correctly, don't you think? Don't have the money to put out for another one. Figured I would just go to the people that have been through this and know what they are doing. I'll just figure it out. Still want to thank all that did take the time to assist me.

I have done nothing but try to point you in the right direction or posted information that was trying to clarify a question asked..........Taken the time out to take pics label Them and post..........asking where the TCI box is as basic as can be............not a problem because a question asked can be answered and no question is stupid, it is the ones not asked that can lead to stupid decisions.........

When statements are made , then contradicted with a description that goes against the meaning of the statement. Then some reference to boys fucking girls that has some hidden meaning to the poster in relation to a tutorial. I question why i have done this in the first place.............

Fogerty............... Seems you have found out there may be problems with the labeling of the e-advance..........If you have read the Pamco thread then it is a simple solution to unscrew the lid on the unit and check to see which end is to the coil or unit............Pic of this in Post#23 in the Pamco thread..............Would recommend doing this even if you were 100% sure the label was right.

In a perfect world we wouldn't have any problems and no mistakes made..............

I know you have helped me a lot and I appreciate it. The post that you are referring to is really uncalled for. I guess they were having a bad day. Again I appreciate all you have done to help me and probably a few more people that are in the same boat as me. There have been a few others that have helped as well. That's what these forums are for. Thanks, Again.

Hi John,
from all the "Pamco - help???" posts I see on the list there's gotta be several ways of making an incorrect installation, some of which don't let it work and others that fry the thing, vs only one way of doing it right so I applaud your caution.
But what I don't understand is why you want to replace the stock TCI in the first place?

Could be that earlier picture of the TCI box with nutted wires all over the place that did it... Almost seems like a Pamco sales thread.

Bike has been setting for about 15 years. No spark at the plugs. Did ever test I could find. All checked out good. Only thing left was the TCI.

Bike been setting about 15 years. Did every test I found and all checked out good. Still no spark at plugs. Hopefully this will remedy the problem.

^Checks would be continuity from plug cap to plug cap, through the coil. Then from coil spade lug to spade lug with nothing connected to them. Then spade lug to plug cap -- should be open. Then the test procedure for the pickup coil on the stator. Also check no wire from the pickup is grounded (rubbed through to frame). Then check the kill switch for continuity in the ON position. Then check taillight comes on when key is on (somewhat checks ignition switch). Then check continuity of electrical connectors from one side to the other, esp. TCI box connector and pickup connector. Then as best you can check continuity of each wire involved (to eliminate bad crimps at connectors). Open TCI box and look for anything burnt. It's unusual for a TCI to just flat out not work at all, but on the other hand that could be why it was parked 15 years ago. If it was the TCI box, every now and then you can find one at a reasonable price.

FOGERTYjohn123, my mothers cousin taught maths/electronics at the New Zealand naval school. He was seriously into electronics and taught me things like how to remember the resistor color code. He also suggested that I do not share it with my mother. I got your little reference to "young girls" straight away. So where is Violet these days?

You've always had a bit of a problem with pete................coming in half way through a conversation, it pays to do some research before making a judgment.

^I love Pamcopete like a brother, and I allllways do my research :) For the sake of research, what are you getting out of posting the rattiest pics of the stock ignition anybody has ever seen alongside confusing, indecipherably miniature schematics? Oh, I think I know.

I did not post any pics or diagrams.

I've written product manuals, and they really need to read like they're for your grandmother. You shouldn't assume the reader knows anything yet except how to bake cookies. Product needs to be designed so the only way to damage it is to run it over. Both necessary to keep the phone from ringing.

Says the man who bought $20 Chinese water proof work boots then complains 1 week later that aren't water proof.........

^They were American, they were free, and they didn't leak; my feet were sweating. Still have them. Best snow boots ever and even have steel toes. Better than those Muck Boots that were so in style.
