Don't you hate THE FONG BROS?

Denis,

Do you have any pics of the battery setup you have, or the battery itself you run. Maybe i'm mistaken but I thought you ran a really small battery

Cheers,
Mark

I could be wrong but from my experience which is limited as long as your battery is 12V you're fine
On my kz cafe racer I ran a moped battery from bikemaster 3" deep 4" tall 5" wide. It just drains quickly if you use the elec start a ton. So make sure those carbs are dialed in or just kickstart
Just to be safe I put mine on the tender once a month just to avoid deep cycling it.

Wow, What a big looong cock n bull line of crap it has been reading all this thread.....

Hey Fong Dudes, Do your thing, if for nothing else, Its "Your" thing. Your bikes rock, they are kinda like my 75 Bultaco Sherpa T trials bike. Not for everybody, not for riding everywhere, but when it comes to zipping over a 36" log, leave your 4 cylinder at home with your attitude.
I love motorcycles, all kinds, My BMW K bike for trips, my HD Sturgis for local trips, and my XSs for around town ripping it and my flattrackers for what they are intended for. That brings me to the top motor mount comment. I rode hopped up Yam 750s on the dirt tracks that have much more horsepower and were put into a much greater frame stressing situation than anything these guys are riding on the street and all without a top motormount.
As far as no slick web site, I can see where you dont need everybody to understand your builds and you certainly dont need everybody to find you and your shop. Its like "IF I HAVE TO EXPLAIN, YOU WOULDNT UNDERSTAND"
As old and boreing it can be to read 20 straight comments on how great it is, all this sillyness is worse.
Oh, and the forks comment, I think a short girder fork would look cool and who needs all that hydro pogo stick crap on such a vintage style tribute. After all, 2 wheels and a motor, everything else is just hooking it all together. Looking forward to your next interpretive build, keep it up guys,
Thanks, Bill

I think I will fire up my restored mini trail and race all the neighbor kids to school again in the morning.......
Those high dollar chromolly mountain bikes with gas shocks cant hang with my ole MT fifty........

LoL..... Yulp.... I saw all those cute little faces I could have added here and there but didnt want it to look like a message from my 17 year old daughter..... LoL
I have 7 XS650s, and have been reading these threads for a couple of years now. There is a wealth of good information available here. There seems to be some sillyness as well. I enjoy Johns dry humor type comments and some of the briliant but easy to understand tech replys from Griz.

Had a near miss with a truck the other day. Almost fonged ol' Trigger.

I can't believe someone joins up and all they have to comment on, and reserect is a 21 month old thread that has no merit or substance.

Geeezzzz this site must be shit.:D

Yes, it's me who keeps the thread going and not the 3 people who commented right above my post who brought it back from the dead. Since one of them was xjwmx (my biggest fan) I simply commented on his "razor sharp" (imagine a ball of wet clay) wit. As usual, his pal skull had to hold his hand and let him know he's got his back by putting his comment up to keep the thread going. Finally, along comes scrambled with breaking news from 10 years ago that my bikes are looks over function. (way to state the obvious). I've said it over and over and anyone with 20/10000 vision in one functioning eye can see that. By the way, the interior decorator quote is priceless. Next time I talk to Jesse James, I'll be sure to relay the incredible way you took his exact quote then changed one whole word to make it your own. Brilliant.
If you all want the post to dissapear, just do the right thing and keep your impulsive fingers still. It will go away. Trust me.

No No! Keep it going. Heh Heh. All kidding aside I dig your bikes.Your style is awesome.
Simple and to the point. By the way tell Jesse James I said HI!
