Old trucks

My first of 2 trucks was a '88 Ranger with the 2.9 V-6. I could not kill that engine. Yeah I hear of the cracking heads. It did eat radiators though. Don't know why. Replaced the water pump and starter while I had it. Sold it when I started having electrical problems. I now drive a '05 Ranger. 3.0 W 5 speed. I did have an '08 with auto. Hated every mile I drove it. Gave it back to the dealer when I got the '05.

A short while back we jumped in a buddies 53' Chevy pick up.. 6 banger, floor shifter... It was a hoot.. fun.. for about 5 miles.... top speed.. a buzzzzzy 50 mph, 2-50 air... ( it couldn't get near 60), no radio, seats, like a cheap airline, didn't recline...
afterwards, we appreciated 50 years of progress. Back in 2008 I mentioned to my then girl friend, now wife.. it'd be nice to have a pick up to haul my bikes.. to which she replied.. " you want a big pick up or little pick up.."... Hummmm, A Ranger works. So.. she bought me a 08' Ranger, 4 banger, auto, w/air. Later I add'd dual exhaust and replaced the ugly wheels. It's been a great truck...been to both coast... twice.... all over the Midwest.. rarely driven in the snow because.. frankly.. it's scary.
So far, 134,000 miles... replaced battery, front rotors and pads, tune up at 106,000. Heard they'r come'n back in 2018.

My old 1960 had drum brakes all around. Back in the 70's I was a teenager living at home and my dad bought an 18 foot deep V hull cabin boat. I wore my dad down until he let me borrow the boat to go to the lake with my friends. So here we are , four of us crammed in the front seat, with a big ass boat hooked to the back of my truck, driving a little too fast. The very first red light I came to , I hit the brakes and I might as well have stuck my feet out and drug them on the ground. Nothing! That big old boat totally overwhelmed my drum brakes and pushed me right through the intersection. It's a miracle we didn't cause an accident. After that I learned to slow down and brake EARLY,

69 Chev C10 4sp. I was 22. Was upgaded with a 400 ci bored .060 over. Edelbrock manifold, Holley double. HEI, Headers, glass packs under the cab, turbos over the diff.
Fast truck ! More fun than any new truck. Women & kids and hell everybody loved it. Windows down, sliding glass open, foot vents open, Stereo rockin 6×9s in the doors.
I ruined the engine ofcourse merging wfo lol.. blew the head gssket and bent rods and such.. That truck was a rocker !

I built two trucks, over the years, my first was a1965 f-150 which I don't seem to have even one picture of and the last one was this 1961 f-150 uni-body. they are just as expensive to build as a car and you cant carry anything with you in the cab. We travel in our hot rods so after a 5000 mile loop thru the south and did west it got sold. A friend of mine bought it and it now sits out in the weather 24-7. aaah paid for it so I guess he can do what he wants with it but he is destroying a pretty good paint job.IMG_0020.JPG

Always wanted a 1 ton dually. However, with all due respect to xjwmx, knocking about 6 inches of ride height out would be the first thing to happen in my shop.

One time in Austin I let a guy in to see a bunch of old cars he said he might be interested in. A couple days later every badge on every car was missing.

Robbers will often ask your permission to rob you. Very strange. And polite.
