Guys I have the twin exit crankcase breather cover on my 79. Is it possible to swap this for the single exit? This would help with clearance of the pipes which I'm struggling with. Alternatively is is possible to reduce the pipe diameter on the twin outlet? 20171118_095731.jpg

Yes a single port from a later model is a direct swap and a popular mod as reflected by the cost. I'll be glad when 2M starts turning out single nipples to replace the dual. Another advantage is the depth of the cover the single outlets are shallower. A gain if space is a concern.

Excellent I'll swap it out....what is the description for the single?

This link will show you the difference on the first page. Go ahead and scroll through the 3 pages FYI.
Another option I didn't mention is the outlet on the XS1 motor is a single outlet but I'm not sure if the bolt hole pattern is a swap and the cost would be prohibitive.
I checked with a local about making me a single outlet spigot but being a one off for him it was too expensive. If he could sell 1,000 the price would come down but I dropped the idea and just watched the classified for members breaking down bikes and scored a couple.

Note that there is a baffle plate that fits inside it. Make sure the unit you buy comes with that because it's different than the one used in your current twin outlet housing.

Also notice the rubber reducer plugs used in your current set-up. The late breather is cast with a smaller opening so no insert is used/required .....

Thanks guys, also, to help widen my search, is this part also found on other Yamahas?

The hard part is finding one in the UK!

Hi Paul,
as long as you are not determined to keep your bike looking stock you could replace the breather plate with a rectangle of 1/2" thick aluminum plate
drilled with the original's bolt pattern and tapped with a pipe thread in the middle. Run a drain hose with a non-return valve in it from the tapped hole.

This is what I did. Ground some of the threaded portion off that was exposed and used blue Loctite when I threaded it in.

Glennpm, that's cool, I actually didn't realise that the twin port came out!!! I dont understand what the last 2 images show though?

Also, do you find the 1/2" barb is about the correct size?

I think I filed down most of the thread to match the OD of the bifurcated outlet and then just pushed it in with blue loctite used. I think I spun it at slow speed in my drill press and used a file against it. It has stayed in good too. The 3/4" X 1/2" was the closest size that would work after filing it down.

Yeah the last two just show the guts of the breather ... bonus pics!
