Installed a complete cdi ignition kit from Hugh's Hand Built. Went batteryless using Sparx capacitor. As far as components I'm only running a 55/60 h4 headlight, brake lights, electric tach and speedo, horn. No kill switch, power on/off button. Anyway everything was working for a couple of short ride and all components died. We used a battery to see it is circuits/components were out. Everything worked with battery. Up to now most advice has been to check grounds and connections. Tried another capacitor and same result. This system is suppose to work without battery. When it was working the lights didn't dim at idle. That's supposedly a good sign I don't need a battery. I have communicated with Hugh several times by email and recently spoke with Todd at Lowbrow who is more of a early years Triumph guy. Most I get is your basic have you checked all wiring thoroughly.

Have you figured this out? I'm running with a battery and my issue is that the system doesn't charge the battery but it does run without the battery as it eventually dies and I have no lighting after a long extended ride.

Just wondering how you wired your relay. I’m trying to use a three way ignition switch and I either have a spark in all positions or no spark in all positions on the switch, when I change the wires around on the relay.

No kill switch, no power on/off button. How do you stop the engine from running?
