Hi guys
Ok, so im near on finishing building my xs chop and want to change the rubber carb inlet mountings, sounds simple yes? No. I have gone to Wemoto and to Yambits and to e-bay etc to find these of which their seems to be a plentiful supply but not that fit my carbs. Now im told that these inlets never changed size throughout the xs manyfacturing period but my carb inlets seem to be some 2/3 mm smaller (internal dia) than the stock dimensions of these pieces. In fact their seems to be a slight discrepancy between both yambits and wemotos spec and a vast one between my own carbs and their inlets. I 'think' my cabs are original to this bike and dont seem to be anything unusual and im told the engine at least is a standard 79 xs engine, having said that i bought the bike as bits so cant be to sure. I cant give exact dimensions this second but i believe im looking for an approx size of 52mm internal but all the suppliers are well over this. Can anyone help a very desperate xs fan.
Thanks
Keith

The 70-79 models used BS38 carbs, 48mm spigot opening diameter.
The 80-83 models used BS34 carbs, 44mm spigot opening diameter.

How does this compare with your carbs?

Hi
That is really really helpful thanks. It now looks as if the parts may have been crossed over. 44mm is certainly nearer the size im looking for.
Really grateful for that info, thanks. Will let you know the outcome.

Quick tell BS34's have chromed steel covers over the diaphragms, BS38 covers are aluminum

When I need new carb holders I will probaby try the ones from cruzinimage_co on ebay. They are made to fit inside the metal holders and have barbs installed. When JBM started making their very welcome replacements, there wasn't this flood of OE spec replacement parts, and new and used originals, on ebay that there is now.
