I'm selling my 1972 Yamaha XS-650 because I don't have the time to work on it anymore. The bike had just over 45,000 miles on it when I burned a hole in a piston. I found a used he'd with pistons in great condition on e-bay a while back. I pulled the engine out intending to rebuild it but never got around to it. The engine turns freely, it just lost compression in the blown cylinder. The bike will run.
Some of the work done to the bike includes: installed a Boyer and Branson electronic ignition, new brass swing arm bushings, redwing shocks Dunlop k series tires.
The bike comes with an extra tank, a complete gasket set to rebuild the engine, a LowBrow customs engine stand and over miscellaneous parts. It is non-op with DMV so no back fees.
It's a quick project for someone that knows what they are doing or has some spare time. All parts are there, I just don't have the time. Asking $1000.00
A bit of trivia:
Standard production 1972 XS2-650 serials start with S650-1xxxxxx
The 200 bikes with a 750 motor were 1972 models made in July 1971.
These 200 bikes have GS650-102xxx serial numbers.
The serial numbers were from GS650-102651 thru GS650-102850.
Yes, 2M, I should have included this as it was on the Bike-urious website (which is a very good site to subscribe too). Abhi does a great job.
