I couldn't help myself. It was a warn day and "The SG" was begging to be taken out so...

I didn't have a lot of time so out to Old Spanish Trail Rd. Through the town of Vail. Back into town after going through Rita Ranch I took these pics of C-5 tails in the "boneyard".

Need parts for your Grumman

S-2 or C-1?

You should come down and see the Air Museum we have. It's just down the road from the Old plane pics. B-36 with 6 turnin' and 4 burnin'!(6 pusher props and 4 J-35s, or was it J-45s?), an Avro Shackleton(that I happened to watch fly in) and a SR-71 and about 200+ other great planes and engines.

We hope to be heading for some Az. sun in March. I plan on dropping my head and barrel off at Diamond Cut on the way down and my side covers go to Vapor Blast in Tucson. We'll catch some spring training games, visit some friends, then head for home picking all the parts on the way...... Best laid plans

Nice pics! Sure wish I had some nice landmarks like that local to me.

Was a great day in the NW but only about 45 degrees.....almost went for a quick jaunt but decided against it.

The Vapor Blast shop was the starting point for the local Distinguished Gentleman's Ride last year. Seemed like a good shop. Decent folks to do Biz with

Man, I would love that azman. 2119.4 miles is a bit of a trip on my 77D! Bit of a trip in my van for that matter......lol.
Maybe someday I'll get down to see you guys.

Take care.

Naaaah. that's what we call a water barrel cactus. they don't get much bigger but, hold a lot of water in them. Had 3 or 4 of them by the sidewalk. Got rid of them thinking a lawsuit in the making so out they went. Elementary school is very near so a lot of kids walk by every day. Long needles too.

Fun pics. I'd love to wander around that old yard and climb thru the planes.
We have nothing like that out here.

I'm thinkin' this is the shadow of some ancient Aztec statue in the foreground of the pics?

Barrel cactus.
As a kid I always heard that they were the salvation of folks lost "out there" dying of thirst. Filled with water they say. I imagined the equivalent of a water melon.

Out in the prairie near Cheyenne I found one and decided to try it.

Once past the the spines and topped, it was pinkish inside, damp as far as any cactus flesh is, fibrous and tasteless. Not worth the effort, probably better to suck on yer shirt as you keep following the mirages.........
