HELP – NEED 1971 XS (B1?) triple tree.
Purchased this modified ole’ girl (1972 XS w 75’ motor) as a rider about a year ago. She has 35 mm forks and has a dual action front shoe brake conversion from another Yamaha model (RD400 I think). I like the retro look but it handles like shit. The problem is the current late model triple tree – it limits the lock to lock distance. I need an early 71’ XS 650 (35 mm forks). The early triple trees had a longer distance between the centerline of the forks and the centerline the tree pivot – 2.500” I think. So in between chopping frames and rebuilding engines take a look in your bone piles and help out this ole’ geezer. Thanks guys

So far with all of your help I've figured out this is a Honda front wheel set up, with post 77 triple trees (clamps). "Doncon" is providing me with a 71' tree (34mm forks) which I plan to bore out to 35mm. I think this will solve my clearance /turning radius issue. Thanks Don and all who responded.
