I changed the handlebars on my XS which may affect the length of the top brake hose.

Currently my top front brake line is about 13-14 inches.

The bottom is 18". Where might I find stainless steel brakelines?

Switch to a one piece, since brake lines are universal you can find them in many different places. eBay always gave me the best deal, just look around a little.

Cheap is just fine.....for some things. But, just what is a failure of a brakeline worth??? Is the potential savings worth a bad wreck when you REALLY need those brakes and are squeezing real hard?
This may be

I see your point, but; Expensive doesn't guarantee reliable, ask any Mercedes owner, LOL I have installed a bunch of the banggoods on XS's and other bikes. at least lines 10 so far. I have a pair on the royal star pig (about half a ton with me and gear. That bike also has a smaller piston MC and rebuilt 4 piston sport bike calipers fitted. Did a series of tire howling stops. Both testing components and getting familiar with brake feel and handling under serious stopping loads. Also did lever slams while stopped applying as much pressure as I could, double? what would lock a tire under load. No problems. There's advantages to a factory cranking out 1000's in purpose built jigs with automated hydraulic crimpers compared to hand work in a hand operated crimper. The occasional no traffic, hard stop should be part of your riding routine. There should never be a question that you can use the most brakes you have available, no matter what you ride.

Make sure the banggood line has the ends orientated correctly. I bought one of those lines and the ends were off 90 degrees for the HHB master cylinder I was using. I went with one from MikesXS which has the swiveling ends.

Determine which type of brake light switch that you have and if it needs to be replaced with a different type. My brake light switch was in the connection between the two front brake lines. I am using a new master cylinder that has a brake light switch attached at the MC, so I'm good. Banjo bolts with switch can also be used.

The line I linked to has the end fittings orientated at about 90° to each other. It works well with the stock MC that has the line connected to the end. The one Mailman used is probably this one .....

It has the ends in the same plane as each other and works better with a MC that mounts the line to the front (or side).

Thanks. Im the type of guy who believes you get what you pay for. I appreciate the Banggood info for sure, but I dont feel comfortable with a $5.99 brake line. So on to 650Central it is!

This may sound like asskissing but it has to be said, 5twins and gggGary are easily some of the best resources on this board. If they vouch for them, there good. Rest easy.

I understand that but with a wife and 2 young kids, I need more than experienced vouchers.

I have to make decisions that ensure my future and safety. Im not comfortable with a $5.99 brake line and would rather spend more at a reputable dealer.

Working within my comfort zone should not be construed as anything but.

Fair enough....

I bet Yamaha didn't spend more than $1 on those two original brake hoses, combined.

I bought one banggood brake hose, and I'll be buying more.

Absolutely no problem it's your bike, life, family.
"Where might I find stainless steel brakelines?" we replied, you decide.
Straight up; my using 10 with no problem don't mean squat, if one in eleven failed it'd be a disaster.
Spiegel and Galfer are well known brake name brands, there are others. I like 650 central a real asset to the 650 community. And his Vintage brake site/info is priceless. But he buys some of his stock from Mike LeGrande LOL.
