I am in the process of building a tracker style bike out of my 1981special and am nearing completion so kinda looking for another project. I recently came across a 70XS through a friend of a friend same old story any way I took a look and bike is not original paint but clean with no or little rust on the chrome appears to be all there and in good condition with only about 10,000 miles on the clock it has not been run for a few years but "ran great when put a way" parked because of a fuel leak not sure where from. Looks like an excellent restoration project.
Could I get a suggestion for a fair offer to make from you guys.

I can pick it up $900.00 so it seems like a pretty good deal but like I said it has been painted so to bring it back to the original green paint scheme would be pretty spendy most likely about $1,000.00 for paint. but other then that a good cleaning and thorough go through should get it back to original condition and I am sure you don't miss the cold winters up here on the tundra.

I would probably pick it up for that price. Ya I dont mis the coler winters.Starting to get some flowers around here. I will be back there in late April. If you pick it up let me know. Going to try and ride the FJR1300 back if the weather permits.

I see your retired, me to. Got any pictures of it.

I will get pictures the next time I visit the bike it is currently in storage so it may be a while before I can get to geather with the current owner

I think there could be a "tipping point" with these early models.

If enuff bike is there, and not missing the necessary unobtanium, a restoration may be viable.

Otherwise, you could be in for a super-long stretch searching for the unobtanium, possibly never seeing completion. Try finding fenders, sidecovers, heads, chainguards.

Breaking it down and selling off the parts then becomes the economically viable option.
