I'm going to have some questions. So I don't have to start a new thread for each I'll ask in this one.
The first one is, I tried installing the start button ab 5-6 times and it doesn't push in. I got it from Mike's, it's a button a cylinder and a spring. Does the little metal cylinder go in the spring.
I tried each way a few times and it's just not moving. Any tips along with proper instal instructions would be appreciated.

The way I remember it the spring is conical and it and the button go in a little housing. When you push the button the spring is part of the path. If the spring was upside down I think it would prevent the button from pushing in very far.

Ill just add this from the other thread to keep it here.

If there is an exploded view somewhere I would at least know if I'm doing it right. It's almost as if the spring is way too big. It think the cone goes in the spring cause it would be even worse otherwise. I'll mess with it again tomorrow till I figure it out. Thank for the reply

Don't know if this will help or not. IIRC this is the way the spring and button go.

Okay, def thanks, I had the spring backwards. I would have been all day messing with that. It seems at the way I was looking at it was wrong. I see it now. Awesome thanks

Ooops, sorry joebgd, my bad. Good catch 5twins.

Wooodogie, I figured it out.
I should have an easier time w horn button now...
Also don't make fun but I'm going back to the stock buck horn bars. I like em for my riding, it's going to be my comuter and fun bike...

That little metal "tit" or contact on the bottom of the button shouldn't come out, it's part of the button. If yours is loose or separate from the plastic part then I think your button is broken.

5Twins you forget you are dealing with a Mikes product, not Kibokojoe's

Really? You're saying the contact is loose and not part of the plastic button in the Mike's kit? I guess that's something I will never have the "pleasure" of dealing with because I would never buy it. I've always just scrounged replacement buttons from other old switch assemblies. They're pretty much the same button on all '70s era Jap bikes. If I ever did buy one, of course it would be KJ's aluminum one.

OK you busted me. I haven't really seen it in my hands. But the description and pictures on ebay lead me to think they are 3 separate pieces.

Yes they are 3 pieces.
I was putting the plastic button through the housing not the contact and metal frame. Good I had it down b4 I did the horn button. It was tough one time to get it all stacked up and in with only one or two drops.

Yep, it's a bit fiddly to cram all those parts in the metal framework. That frame is easily bent too, and then it sometimes doesn't function correctly. You have to get the frame all straight and square, then fit it down into the housing correctly so it locks in place. There's a little cast rib on the housing floor that the frame fits in front of. That holds it from pushing in when you push the button.

What does vm mean in a carburetor? What's the difference of cv and vm?

"VM" is not an acronym, just a series designator. It refers to Mikuni round slide carburetors with slides mechanically lifted either by bell crank and throttle shaft or by cable through the carb top. "CV" means "constant velocity," which is a Keihin designation for early vacuum operated round slide carburetors. Like "Kleenex," it's often used as a generic label for any vacuum diaphragm carburetor, like the OE Mikuni BS-series carburetors that are OE on Yamaha XS650s.
