Yup - that would be my guess too.
78-79 Special tanks had two petcocks. 80 on a single. The change correspondend with change in carbs.
Yes - quite right 5T. It must be a Standard tank then.
Looks "special" to me Pete. Those angle shots can be confusing. All years of special use the same cap.

Quiet right... from my perspective, it looks like cap is towards the right side. Also looks like the tank is leaning right... as in petcock on left only. My guess is 80 on.

Based on my experience I would pass on Mikes product and get OEM. gggGary may can hook you up.
Petcock doesn't look to be vacuum operated...and looks to be XS650.......Non Vacuum and Vacuum petcocks don't interchange.....Cap recess in the Tank isn't as pronounced as the specials.
need better pics from the top or rear looking forward.........every one has a different opinion and the pics will clear it up..........

Here's a pic from my '82, 5V4. One petcock on the left, gascap off center to the right. The vacuum petcock has changed to a non vacuum one. Just like I did.

Ok cool so its a special and if specials all use the same caps thats good. So if i shouldnt get one from mikes xs, does anyone have one for sale laying around? Or am i gonna have to ebay it lol I also lost the tiny hinge pin clip like an idiot so i guess i need to buy one for 10$ on ebay
