1977 XS650 standard for sale $2300. Frame is complete and unmolestered. Approximately 8,000 miles. Located in Interlochen, MI - just 10 miles southwest of Traverse City, MI

***White "Yamaha" lettering and "650" numbering are vinyl decals that are easily removed if they are not to your taste.

Bought in 2010 it has matching frame and engine numbers. I went through and did a frame-off rebuild. Here is a listing of the major things that have been done to the motorcycle:

Top end completely rebuilt to stock specs - original pistons and valves but replaced cam chain, rings, and cam chain guide.
New engine seals/gaskets throughout.
Transmission/clutch inspected and adjusted.
Frame, tank, side covers, and rims powder coated.
Progressive fork springs - still have stock springs.
Cafe seat on stock seat pan or OEM style seat.
Pamco electronic ignition replacing the points - I do not have the stock points system. the stock mechanical ignition advancer is still there.
Single coil performance ignition - as recommended by Pamco Pete.
Electric starter removed - kick only. still have the parts, never could get it to quit hanging up and grinding.
TX-750 swing arm and chain guard installed - stock swing arm and chain guard included.
Needle bearings in swing arm and triple tree.
New cables throughout.
New front master cylinder and brake lines.
New exhaust system - mufflers changeable.
Uni Air filters - no longer have the stock air box.
Carbs gone though rebuilt as necessary and rejetted/adjusted properly.
New carb manifolds and diaphragms - JBM Industries.
New drive chain and sprockets - stock specs.
New shocks.
New battery.
New stainless steal spokes on stock rims.
New tires.
Polished aluminum headlight ears.
“Light” clubman handlebars.
stock looking reinforced front fender included or fork brace.
Passenger pegs installed
Stock mirror and blinker mounts remain.

Stored indoors. Winterized properly - cylinders fogged, float bowls drained etc.

Bone cold she fires up in two kicks.

All removed/extra parts and tools/manuals specific to this bike go along with the sale. Lots of stock parts chilling in the basement.

Parts were sourced from Mike's XS, 650central, JBM Industries, eBay, and fellow members of this site. There's much more that’s been done to this thing over the last 8 years. Happy to answer any and all questions.

Clear title in hand.

$2300 obo

Thanks for looking,
Dan

just realized I forgot to post pictures. they should be up now. hopefully it looks better than my older album pics that 650Skull posted - fingers crossed.

Thanks for the classified ad support guys.

Took her out for a spin today. After the winterization worked its way out of the carbs and some fresh fuel the XS was pulling through the twisties quite nicely.

Price drop $2300.00. Pretty good deal for an unmolested late model standard. I need a utility trailer right now more than a motorcycle. I’ll post some pics tomorrow with the fender and stock seat installed.

yeah, not asking anywhere near what the bike is worth. But I hate seeing a motorcycle sit. They’re much better looking on the road compared to a garage corner.

This is worth a bump.

So I just had this guy email me off of Craigslist, this is the exact message:

“What you did to this 1977 xs650 Devalued this Bike terribly, in original condition this Bike would bring $2500 in it current condition about $1000 maybe too bad these are nice bikes”

Keep in mind when I got the bike it looked like this:

Actually, it looked worse than that. The former owner chopped off the rear frame hoop and had a solo saddle installed instead of the “stockish” seat.

Gotta love craigslist.

Thanks. Been riding it around with the wife. Threw some cb750 handlebars on it to get a good sitting position for a passenger. I think I like the ride better with those style bars. I’ll snap a pic soon and post it up.

as promised. XS650 with CB750 handlebars. Really is a good riding position with both the stock seat or the cafe.
