bleeding rear brakes

I will, if it is plugged or not drilled through how do I unplug it, very tiny drill bit?
yeah, emphasis on TINY, a size not usually found at the hardware store. Then you gotta make sure you don't leave any burrs in the bore that will tear the rubbers, fussy work.

Really, I thought it was exposed once the hose was disconnected. Maybe I should just return this one. Is there a video somewhere showing how to do this, because I have no idea how too?

That's the reason I bought a new one, my original one crapped out on me and I didn't want to take on rebuilding it, looks like I'm doing that anyways!

This hole problem, is this a common thing for these master cylinders? Are other people experiencing the same symptoms as me and this is the problem that's causing it? I just want to be sure that this is likely the problem before I go through the hassle of taking it apart. Thanks!

Here's a suggestion dude. If you can't verify that that 'tiny' hole is clear, drop by a sewing shop and ask them for their smallest 'beading needles'.

Tell them you need them to work on a motorcycle and an interesting discussion will ensue.

These are super small. You can get them as small as 18/0 to 24/0 which are used for micro surgery.

Gently drop one in the hole and look through the bore. It that hole is clear through you will see the needle tip poking through.

Edit: you will have to take it apart still.

Sorry, yes, just added edit above as you posted your question.

By the way, is it hard to rebuild these things? Any special tools required? Does the rubber outside boot come with the rebuild kit, mine is torn?

Not hard, just keep everything super clean and organized.

You will need a pair of long nose snap ring pliers to get the snap ring out that holds the piston in.

No outside boot in kit. Check kit contents at MikesXS or Partzilla.com where you can buy an OEM kit. Boot is obsolete.

Do a search for 'Rear Master Cylinder Rebuild' , lots of info there.

This is why I'm a drum rear brake kinda guy, lol. One "wet" brake on the front is enough to deal with.

I got everything back on nice and tight, back blead the system, still no go! I think I'm going to have to rebuild the original MS, and see what happens. I'm surprised there isn't a " how to" in the tech section for rear master cylinder rebuild.

Other than the remote reservoir the procedure is the same. About 95%? of all master cylinders rebuild the same way.
78-80 specials were the only disc rears.

I got the original rear master cylinder apart, does anyone have a picture of the sequence the parts go in, I noticed the pictures I have found online show the rubber piece at the top of the spring, but when I took mine apart the rubber part was at the bottom where the plunger touches the spring. Thanks!
