Now I'm going to have to run out to the barn and check on the engine from my old ride-to-work bike to make sure someone has not stole the head off it! Looks about the same.
 
Just checked my 81 and it is lacking a horn cable wire stay. I wonder what international shipping will will bring the total cost to?
 
Mostly all of us have spares kicking around our shops. Does this mean that we all have retirement savings selling them on ebay?!?! Man I didnt know this....must be something new that just popped up!!! Lol:laugh::laugh::laugh:
 
This is exactly what happened in the H-D market. Some years back, someone sold a bunch of junk parts for stupid money. Now everything is 3-4 times what it ought to be (meaning it's like, 10X the cost of Xs650 parts!). People selling stuff in our classifieds are asking reasonable prices. FleaBay sellers are asking ridiculous prices because it's "old and rare...". Please don't let it happen here! :yikes:

Talk about crazy prices for Harley parts. Back when I bought my 1988 883 Sportster new it came with just a speedometer. Maybe a year or so latter I did the "upgrade" and installed a tachometer that meant I needed to replace the single hole speedometer bracket with the dual instrument bracket that came in the kit. Several years ago I gave or sold at a nominal price the single gauge bracket to some guy on the Sportster Mailing List. Well now that old tachometer has failed and I was going to replace the bracket with one for the single gauge. I'm having a problem with the prices people are asking on line for this simple bracket, in the area of $60.00 plus shipping for a simple bracket not even chrome! It looks like this:

Six small holes and one big one! Just glade that guy on Ebay selling xs650 parts doesn't have one he would want $150.00!
