Oh? My new project I'm thinking of switching to spokes n drum brake.... what have you learned about swapping from one to the other? I have not researched it yet.

Biggest issue you may have is finding a set of spoke wheels to buy at a price you are ok with!

Big positive shout out today to XS650 Direct, the Cndn Mike's. I ordered a front caliper and pads at 1 PM yesterday and the courier came by today mid afternoon. Didn't really want to pay $130.00 for the caliper and $25.00 for the pads, but when you look at the cost of all the repair parts (piston now $35.00!), I was ok with it. It's the last item to finalize the '77 which is already advertised.

Set the valves to 5 and 10 Tues night. Went for a 100 mile ride yesterday after work. These specs are where its at- still starts and runs really good, and mostly quited down. I swear it ran the best it ever has yesterday. Planning another ride with the girlfriend this evening, because look at the forecast!!!!!

Got my ex500 carbs set up and running, in my throttle adventures I have found a Suzuki RMZ 250 throttle grip and cables is a good match with no slack. They are on the short side at 40" but that suits my low bars.
They pull cable has an extra adjuster near the grip, to take out slack.

So far so good, got an air leak, so apart from some popping it idles well, I'll get some filters on and go for a ride over the weekend.
I have 38 pilots
138 mains
JJJ 46 needle on 3rd clip down
Mixture 1.5 turns out

Uugh, here we go; fixed the air leak (boots), but the right cylinder is backfiring every 5 seconds or so, also the revs are slow to fall, do I guess I didn't catch every air leak???
I'm going to check my float levels and maybe go for 2 turns out on the mix.

P.s I just read the plastic needle holders are indexed, I thought they felt a bit stiff going on....

I'd be reexamining my carb synch, if not with a gauge (most accurate) at least with the hands over the mufflers method.
