Been two weeks......TWO WEEKS! since I've been able to get out for a ride due to work and weather. Was getting pretty shaky, now shaken.

Thinking of other members fall pics went looking for some fall colours.

A little early yet but the Sumacs are turning.....

And some of the Maples....

Another week or so should be better and I'll get you some more fall colours Bob.

Also got to an old, now renovated gas station I've been meaning to visit. I'm due for a new phone and my battery went from 60% to 0 in the matter of a few pics. I thought I got em but I guess they weren't saved. Getting that Digital V/M USB charger wired in is another winter project. I'll do it in the headlight bucket using 5twins short jumper wire method.

Did get one pic, here's a teaser.

Guess I gotta go back and will post up the rest in Dudes Old Garage thread.

Yikes, the other day I barely lifted the old , black side gasket to peek in the bottom, stick the carb spray tube inside. Was just going to glue it back w/ hylomar. bad news, I saw the pics above. Good news I can make a gasket....actually, just curious to rip it off and look.

Hi yamahama:

Just a quick note to let you know that RobinC, the chap who started this thread several years ago passed away in the autumn of 2018 - just a few days after his last post above - and that accounts for the lengthy gap between his last post and today.

Robin was a wonderful guy and a great friend to everyone on the XS650.com forum. I actually bought his '78E from his widow and it is on my lift as we speak and Lakeview bought his '73 TX which Robin had acquired as a total mess, but is now well on its way to becoming a calendar girl IMO.

FYI, here is the shot from Post #2 of this thread of the '78E and a couple of photos of the bike's tins as painted recently by Jim of this forum.

Robin's two major threads are a tremendous source of great info on a number of topics (particularly polishing aluminium engine cases) but to keep things current, it might be a good idea for you to start an entirely new thread for your bike.
