I believe My ignition Coil is not working. Will this work as a replacement.

Should be ok. I went with an Andrews coil tucked up under the headstock. As long as the ohm rating is the same you should be good to go.
 
The ohm rating of the coil you need will depend on what type of ignition system you have. A 3 ohm coil is for electronic ignitions. If you have a points type ignition you will need a 4 to 5 ohm coil. A 3 ohm coil would burn the points up quickly.
 
Have you tested (ohmed out) your coil?
If you have a factory TCI ignition the coil would not be my first suspect in a no spark situation.
 
I always struggle with the multi-meter. yes I have tested the coils. and I wasn't getting any reading from the end of the plug wires. I am running the Pamco ignition with the e advancer and pma.
 
Well if it was a coil from MikesXS I'll change my opinion about the coil being DOA, LOL
 
Honestly, Gary I have been driving the struggle bus here for a few weeks. I'm going to take a few pics and put up another post... I need a little bit of guidance and direction from the gurus on this page. I am good at getting out there and doing stuff... I just get so lost in the endless forums, that i lose focus every time. and now i think I'm in a world of hurt.

I will check the ignition coil again when I get over there.
 
FYI just had a guy bring me a really nice chopper with no spark. The (MikesXS) coil tested OK but had no spark, swapped in an accel and all was good. Owner installed a new coil and bike then started on the first kick.

I'm not familiar with these types of coils. What type of plug wire terminal is needed at the coil? Does a person have to buy a special wire with a terminal already attached to the end of the wire? Can you start with plain wire and attach the terminal? My experience is limited to the 7mm, shove and twist in, compression type, coil connections, and I like them very much. I would never buy the "high performance" coil and wire kits, I make up my own with good alloy, metallic core, silicone wire, and NGK caps.

That coil appears to use a standard automotive plug-in connection. They make crimps for the ends of plug wires for that, or if you buy a ready-made set of automotive wires, they are usually installed already. I get VW Beetle wire sets. They come with that crimp on one end, a rubber plug boot on the other. I replace the plug boot with an NGK, use the crimp end if connecting to a plug-in coil, or just cut it off if using a push-in/screw-in type coil. I run the red Andrews coil like Mac too. It uses the plug-in wire connection .....

Yes, I wondered at first if there would be an issue on a bike with them coming unplugged, but I've never encountered it. In fact, my old '70s BMWs came stock that way and those things cover hundreds of thousands of miles like that. I guess you could say it's been proven to work OK. Also, those aftermarket VW plug wires have served me well. I've been installing them on most all my bikes since the mid '90s and never had any problems with them. They're reasonably priced and obviously hold up very well .....

Sooooo I may have found the issue.... yes. Skull I think the coil might be fine. I’m getting literally no reading on either of the caps. I’m using the ngk caps. I can’t get any reading at all. No ohms nothing. Can they be busted??
 
What scale do you have your meter set to test the caps? Those are 5000 ohm resistor caps. Good caps to use, but you need a different scale to test them than ordinary wires and switches.

Yes, the resistor caps can go bad! Check resistance from the screw that goes into the wire to the clip that goes over the threaded end of the spark plug.
