Whats your weather right now?

Yesterday it was 63 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Glenda and I went bike (bicycle) riding in only a sweater (along with regular clothing). Window was down in the El Camino most of the day. What in the HELL happened??:(

THIS is why I never went back to Oklahoma after I retired from the Air Force. Besides, I'm still thawing out from Germany. I was there 5 yrs. Nevermind that I left in '87...LOL!!

Thanks Pete, 73’ Trident, my grandfather bought it new, my mom learned to ride on it, and now I have the pleasure of restoring it for her as it’s been sitting quite a few years

Beautiful! Big Trident fan! And even better....a Trident with history!

Out walking the dog this morning. The sunrise golfers. Sorry guys don’t hate me.

Ooooohhhh - a TRIDENT - and your MOM rode it herself!! You come from good stock, my boy!

When I was a kid my 11 years-older-than-I Uncle Dave ("Unc" to me) had a 1967 Triumph Tiger 500 (single carb, I think) and I used to devour all his bike magazines. I always searched for articles about the Trident (and the BSA Rocket 3) as they seemed like the last word in motorcycle exotica at that time.

After he got tired of re-building the Tiger engine following each season, he traded it in on a brand new 1971 Kawasaki Mach III (the 500cc H1) - the blue one. I think it cost him $1095 minus what they gave him for the Triumph (around $500 I think). The H1 was pretty cool - even though at idle it sounded like a swarm of radioactive bumblebees on cocaine. He still has that Kawi and rides it a few times each summer. The CDI ignition and engine lubrication "smoke screen generator" system still work perfectly. He has been told that it is one of very few H1s in Canada in totally original/unrestored condition that has never been through a ditch or plowed into a fence. I had the opportunity to ride it some years ago and it really is pretty ferocious - although in comparison to a modern bike, I don't suppose it was really all that fast. The problem was that the thing was primitive, the controls aren't well harmonized and the engine comes on very suddenly with a huge blast of noise and smoke - along with fairly substantial up-tick in torque that causes the front wheel to start skipping off the ground.

You certainly had to be well-organized to ride that thing safely. It truly lived up to its reputation which was:
  • a very loud, smokey and peaky 60 HP engine....
  • ....installed in a 22 HP frame....
  • ....that is equipped with 7 HP brakes.

Anyhow - I'd love to see some more photos of that Trident and hear it when you get it running.

Pete
