Post Classic Sidecar

I found some coverage of our 5 races.
In the second race (wet) we struggled for drive out of the hairpin. It is a balance between traction and steering and I usually front exit to help the steering. In the following wet races we got better drive with me rear exiting at the hairpin.
We are still learning but that was a lesion we wont forget.

All the footage of the Boxing Day races has been released.
https://cemeterycircuit.co.nz/ scroll down the page for a link.

4:31 and 7:48 are the F1 &F2 sidecars

5:25 and 8:29 are the classic sidecars.

There were 4 XS based outfits in the race #250,#297.#650 & # 266.
Lucy on #297 was also riding a solo as well as swinging, her races were back to back so it was a big day for her.

#250 took a beating from the track, broken exhaust mounting spring, blown shock seal on the back, broken shock spring on the front, internal mods to gear selector hammered but it kept going.

The next day at a hillclimb the ignition played up, we had luck on our side boxing day and that will probably be as high as we will ever finish on an XS based machine. Too many fast BMW,s on tables being built as I write this.

The mods can be seen in this thread post #14.

The internal spacer used on the star wheel mod was pretty battered. Its just a piece of pipe turned to size. This is the first time in a long while that we checked so deeply by removing the outer washer and star. We normally just remove the clutch and check the shift claw and springs for wear. So probably unfair to blame it on one race meeting when it has only been checked once.
Not exactly sure on the mechanism of injury to the part, but I think its from the shift claw, which looks good the softer spacer coming of 2nd.
Since doing this mod we have not had any gear change problems.
