I have a 75xs and was thinking about some kind of highway pegs for it
It has the crash bar on it already but if I put my feet up there on top it's too tall for my feet (that and the fact that when I'm headed there I sometimes melt part of the bottom of my boot S****T )
My stock 74 had them on but I think there was just holes drilled in the crash bar and the pegs attached that way

Saw some online for a Harley that clamped to the frame but at $150 per set that's nuts

There's some budget clamp-on, swing-down pegs out there.
But, I don't see enuff room to keep your boots away from the pipes if they're mounted to the inside. Outside mounting would be like doing the splits while skydiving.

A forum search on "forward controls" might yield ideas...

Yeah I may try and mount a set on the inside
clamp-on, swing-down pegs and just watch my boots better
Or find a simple way to get the gunk from my boots off easier
Your right being on the outside it wouldn't work Time to start digging and se what's out there
It's cold as hell here in central MN especially with the wind chill good indoor day

Someone used an extending piece of all-thread to replace one of the long bolts in that frame brace at the front. If you could find a couple of huge fender washers to put on it and block your feet, it would keep you from getting the hot foot.

This was on the bike when i bought it.....Bolts onto the front engine mount.....Wouldn't be hard to make one up and make the plates so the pegs suits yourself..........

If i was redo it i would have the pegs lower. Makes for it to be a bit safer and be able to reposition a bit faster.....Suit the standard lower bars position ....really only good for long straights and sweeping corners

Greyandridin, I've got two sets of highway pegs I took off a couple of my 650's. $35 ea. set plus shipping. Let me know if you want a pic or two. plowboy

This is purely speculation, but I think the solution 650skull suggested might be "safer" than the admittedly rather elegant solution pamcopete posted.

Only because I'm concerned that a long cantilever on a bike that tends to vibrate a lot could fatigue, especially if the harmonic frequencies of the cantilever matches the engine's vibrations. A crack initiation could be compounded by stress corrosion cracking if it was exposed to salt / water. The end of your engine bolt suddenly snapping off would be a bit alarming.

Just my opinion as an academic with 0 practical experience ;)

I would have to have a local machine shop make this but I like the design thanks 650Skull

Send me a couple of pics please

Grey, heres a pic of the highway pegs I have. They bolt to the front motor mount with the longer bolts replacing the stock motor mount bolts. The flatter pegs have YAMAHA embossed in them. Mitch

plowboy Let me get back to on them I'm definitely interested I take it a set would come with the 2 bolts
I have stock complete original style charging and ignition systems if you might be interested as trade I replaced both systems they both worked fine I just wanted to go with with new more reliable systems

Grey, yes, the longer bolts go with the pegs. I've gone to electrix world ignitions on my 650's. Let me know on the pegs. Thanks, Mitch

Mitch I'll take the flat set let me know how you want to work out the payment Check first or paypal (they charge a fee)

Grey, pay-pal is fine. Give me your address and zip and I can figure shipping and let you know my paypal info. Mitch

Just so ya know......E-Z OFF oven cleaner with the brush-in-cap can will remove most kinds of melted stuff from chrome exhaust. Use carefully as it will also remove paint if not paying attention to where it goes, hence don't use the spray version!
