That ‘73 TX, makes me wonder also. Anytime I see an ad for a really nice old bike and they only have a single photo of it? It usually smells fishy to me. The ad specifically mentioned that the seat was perfect, and yet there was clearly a big honkin strip of black tape on the side.

Is it just me or would you rather own the stock special a few posts up VS the other special below it, the one with no front brake. .? I feel like stock bikes are going to be much more valuable in like 30 years from now. Plus why would someone brag about how fast thier bike is and then not even run a front brake ?
I concur 100%..I am a purist but still these bikes are truly artisan quality builds...But you will never see me on one or in posession of one...the rephased bike in NJ looks down right dangerous...My 66 yr old body aches just looking at it.. The problem is these bikes are so well suited for chopping and bobbing and what not that there are prolly more in altered states than you will find in OEM condition these days..while i have no hard data to back that up..it just seems from what i see forsale..A high percentage of them are chopped..bobbed..cafe'd or scramblered or street trackers type of thing.....
I'd be very happy with that TX...:D

I agree many times these are scam ads ..no in depth details..they are fishing for emails...this ad has more details but many times the scammers are just copying and reposting someone elses ad...

There seems to be an M.O. to scam ads but every now and then they get a bit more creative ..copying someone elses ads and posting multiple pics..and it looks legit but it isnt...Theres a way to search a titled CL ad nationally to see what crops up. I think you can just google a suspected cl titled ad...
Alot of times they'll copy ads from closed sales from flea bay as well...

On the nice stock '73, 'professionally rebuilt carbs' and yet 'needs fuel float adjusted .. leaking gas'. Minor thing sure, but makes you wonder.

The '77 'kick only, registered but only bill of sale' one does appear to have a battery sitting down there. That, or it's his lunch box.

Ok..I just did a nationwide seach tempest search of all CL ads and there are only 2 1973 TX650s as stated in the title of the ad in question here...so of those 2 ads one is the ad i posted and the other is a completely different bike in texas...so it would appear that the single pic ad for the '73 TX is legit..but from this point forward i will be certain to add this finer point....
"caveat emptor"

It might just be the pic is not up to date and what he is stating is that the seat has been done..not sure but thats what i think it means...

Well got a short reply stating she's available to meet this weekend (no wonky email re-directs...yet). Tryin' to set something up for Sat. afternoon.
Very good..then it would appear to be legit...Good luck..we'll be interested in hearing and perhaps seeing more of this '73 TX650

Thanks CBJamie. I didn`t know about the GA law`s. If I were to purchase this bike and bring it back to KS it would have to be inspected by the KSHP. Since it is registered in another state and has no title a last registration search would be done and if the bike shows that it is still registered and on another states tax roll it would most likely be confiscated on the spot and held in the impound lot until the proper paperwork is completed, usually this involves a attorney and a hearing where signed affidavits from the previous owners are presented and a stolen vehicle check is done by the state authority`s. After the impound fee`s, inspection fee`s and any other state costs are paid the vehicle would be released and receive a KS assigned title. This BS only applies to out of state vehicles. If I were to purchase this bike in the state of KS all I would need to have is a official state of KS bill of sale, proof of insurance and frame and engine serial number inspection (Hot Sheet) and pay the tax and get the regular or antique (35 years old) tag. I did drive by the state HP impound lot this week and there is probably over 100 cars, boats, campers, trailers, personal watercraft, and motorcycles being held there. They have a public auction a couple times a year and sell the vehicles that are not reclaimed. I`m not sure but I think they are given a KS salvage title. I usually try to limit any purchase to KS or MO. You don`t have to jump through the hoop as many times. It`s always great to have a clear title. In some cases that might be worth more than the bike.:yikes:
