If one needs to clamp a fork tube, and for some reason can not use the triples, a clamping fixture is fairly easy to make from a square piece of 20-25 mm aluminium plate. Bore a hole of the tube diameter, then slit one side with a hacksaw, maybe using 2 blades in it. Then clamp your new fixture in tne vise, avoiding any tube damage

Mine are dead flush, I'm try a half inch past maybe ill max it out actually so I can see if I feel it. The torque specs for top and bottom fork clamp on an 80? Anyone have handy? Gotta get 2 links out of chain as well. The adjustment is at its limits.
why is adjustment at it's limits?
When I put the new chain on I had the adjusters far back to start with. I figured cause it was brand new the chain would need to be tightened after a bit and I didn't leave enough room for tightening. Short answer is I should have had the chain one section shorter to start with.
